thejackal 46 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 this really wouldnt be practical or even desirable for most petty criminal - regardless of what they're actually packing they want to be seen as carrying legitimate weapons.
usahockey22 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 yea, I'm not really too sure what to make of this...I don't think it would really be any more of a danger to a kid than just a regular unsupervised gun, and I don't see how criminals would want a gun like this, unless they think they could carry it and pass it off as a toy. Guess the housewives want to add some style to their home defense arsenals.
Monty22 833 Report post Posted February 20, 2008 oooooooo scary! Duracoated firearms will make you go blind, kill kittens and make babies cry. They have been found to cause cancer, make men sterile and are a leading cause of global warming. They must be banned, for the children.

D aka speck 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2008 Good God... guns are like iPods now! Totally customizable. This takes the difference between toy and real entirely away.I agree with the point made by the guy that paints these things that parents should be responsibe but...what kind of responsible parent or for that matter, adult (cops included) makes a potentially, lethal weapon look like a toy?!By my estimation, the guy has absolutely no responsible customers at all! That makes him an irresponsible vendor IMO!Hello kitty sometimes makes me wish I was dead but I never imagined it could come true. :D

They have been having been painting rifles and shotguns for years. He sells a legal product. Normally, rifles with the outlandish paint schemes are "race guns" used in competition. It's no different than Total hockey selling Rit Dyed Tuuks. Granted the samples are ugly, but to each their own. Cars are customized everyday in this same manner. Should everyone not be allowed to paint their cars because they will injure themselves and others racing? People will be responsible or irresponsible regardless of the color. Take a deep breath, it's going to be alright.

DCott 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2008 there is a legitimate concern from law enforcement, because if it came down to someone pointing a pink glock at a cop, the cop might think it's a toy and hesitate.
JR97 2 Report post Posted February 20, 2008 there is a legitimate concern from law enforcement, because if it came down to someone pointing a pink glock at a cop, the cop might think it's a toy and hesitate. On the flip side, the first instance of a crime being committed with one of these painted guns will lead cops not to hesitate when he sees a kid with a toy gun.The law came down on toy manufacturers to put bright orange tips on their toy guns or have them in those bright colors because of kids getting killed by cops on accident. So why cops are this guy's biggest customers is beyond me.

Jason Harris 31 Report post Posted February 20, 2008 I've read of the reverse already happening, where officers have fired at unbalanced individuals brandishing a toy gun menacingly. There's been public outcry, but what is the officer to do? It's semi-dark and the toys look real.I would imagine police departments train their officers to be on the safe side (firing quickly) versus waiting to determine whether it's a toy. Fire0nIce228 1 Report post Posted February 20, 2008 Exactly! The public outcry is so quick to happen yet these officers have a split second to make possible life or death situation. If it were up to me, I'd not allow toy guns to be manufactured anymore. Eventually you may not have a problem like that anymore.
David_4x4 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2008 If it were up to me, I'd not allow toy guns to be manufactured anymore. Eventually you may not have a problem like that anymore. And that solves what? Toys guns have been made for a 100 yrs. They just disappear and dry up? Toy gun buy backs? Real gun buy backs solve a lot. LOLThe fact is that people are looking for more ways to point harm to firearms. Problem is that the pussification of this country is the problem and not the guns whether they're black or pink. Rustpot 1 Report post Posted February 20, 2008 Make gun possesion allegalI'm going to assume you meant "illegal"Doing so would be both impossible and stupid. The people who are the ones doing this modification aren't the ones shooting cops, by the way. To get your gun back it must be sent to a Federal Firearms Licensee and a title transfer made. They'd snatch up all of the illegal guns used by gangs and whatnot in a hurry.Cops already react to anything wielded by a suspect as a weapon, if they identify it as a gun and it is pointed at them bullets will fly and, toy or not, the suspect will go down. These pink guns just make it so that if someone is shot with a toy gun it will be a tragedy. number21 3 Report post Posted February 20, 2008 I know gun debates are a waste of time to get in online, or anywhere really, but I just have one bit to say.I grew up with guns and i used to hunt, but haven't since i moved to chicago. I have a very liberal views on gun ownership, but that is neither here nor there, since no one's mind is going to be changed here. In my opinion, the problem with these painted guns is that it trivializes what a gun is. A gun is not a toy, for anyone! It is a potentially deadly piece of machinery and should be respected as such. Painting guns like this is just stupid and irresponsible. Just because you CAN do something doesn't really mean you SHOULD. I am not going to argue with anyone on this, I just wanted to make a point that seemed to me was left out of this thread so far.
Monty22 833 Report post Posted February 20, 2008 Here's a thought- teach your children not to point anything at police officers. If a cop is worried you kid is going to shoot him/her, the color of the item is irrelevent, you have already failed as a parent. Number 21- Big assumption on your part that someone who purchases a product like this doesen't grasp the implications of ownership and usage, and has not passed that on to their children...
