Recommended Posts

Mine was a pair of Riedells..What model? I dont know, but I remember getting them at Pierce Skate & Ski in Bloomington, MN. I thought I was pretty cool stuff then.

OLD (talkin' 50s here) WORN THE-F-OUT brown leather boots with stretched leather laces I got from my dad (and he got from his). Brand lost to the ages. No matter what I did, I could never tie them comfortably. Wore those from maybe 11-16yrs old. Had the requisite Lange/Microns and baby Bauers when I was a kid, that would actually be my first pairs, but I couldn't really skate back then so they don't count

more important was my first pair of "hockey" skates with an actual holder

Bauer Chargers from CanTire

For roller, I started out with a pair of Variflex "Sub Zero" that I got from Toys R Us. They were like a work boot with a plastic chassis and rocks for wheels, but they complemented my mylec stick with plastic screw on blade perfectly.

Before I had ice hockey skates, I regrettably had a pair of figure skates, but my first hockey skates were a pair of hand me down CCM Super Tacks 451s that might have been older than me.

bauer bob skates haha

after that I had:

- bauer chargers

- really old ccm's that were too big, this is before the wedge...can't remember the name but they had an nhl type logo stitched in the side

- ccm 650's - same as 652's I think, but made for source for sports in Canada. had the sl6000 holder

- ccm 650's - prolite 3

- ccm 652 pumps

- ccm 892 - made for another chain of sporting goods store in canada i can't remember the one...but they were out when the first 752's came out. these were identical but didn't have the kevlar

- nike zoom airs - HORRIBLE, horrible skates

- bauer air 90 - probably my favourite skates

- ccm prostock manny malhotras - were labelled 752's i believe...had these about 5 years as i didn't play much for a 4 year span there

- ccm vector 6's - really good skates for $100 I'll say that much, can't believe how light even low grade skates are now.

CCM Mustangs

Bauer Supreme 92- My first pro model skate. I still have them. All leather boot with tubular steel blades. I bought them at Paragon's in NYC.

CCM Super Tacks- also with tubular steel blades. In 77 or 78, I took off the tubular steel blades and put Tuuks on. I still have the Super Tacks boots.

Micron plastic. When the boot cracked in half during pick up I replaced them with Supreme 100, which moved me in to the right decade.
