Favre Retires...

Recommended Posts

Brett, as well as one of his teammates have said Favre wanting to come back is a rumor, but you just never know with him. I'd love to see him continue playing.

Should we be surprised? He spent his last couple years talking about quitting, now that he's gone he's talking about playing. Good player but one of the most overrated QBs of my lifetime.

Before athletes decide they want to retire, I think they should wait a while into the summer to see how their bodies are healing and to see how they're feeling.

Without Favre, I'm not sure what the Packers can do.

Though true, this isn't plausible with the NFL because you can handicap your team. There may be a good prospect in the draft or someone they can sign as a free-agent, but they can't commit to that without knowing for sure someone's leaving. If said player decides to come back, you're balls deep in the pooch.

I hope he dosent end up like Jordan, leave while you still have some respect, still pretty much on top of your game...But then come back and look horriable and then even worse come back again and look even worse...He should just leave the game and do those "cool" wrangler jeans commercials....lol

I saw that as well, I wonder what that means for him or what is in his future plans....I hope he just calls it quits for good, unless the Panthers could pick him up...they could use another QB to throw int's...If Delhomo starts playing to well they could put in Farve...

I really think this dude needs to hang 'em up. After a couple not so great seasons he has a chance to go out on a high note. If I were him I'd take it.

If he is still elite and wants to play, why should he? It's not like his body is broken up like Elway or Marino. I wouldn't sign him though unless he swore to more than one season.

I think you win the grand prize. Favre has been playing the "I may or may not return for another season" game since 2005. The management is completely fed up with it at this point.

As they should be. But at the same time, I think him coming back regardless of what he does on the field will be tarnished by the amount of BS he has started each summer (this year, and last years press conference to tell the media there is no news included). He's a joke in my eyes. A great QB no doubt, but an absolute joke.

I kind of agree. He was very good on the field but his life off it was a mess. The whole painkiller addiction for several years and this mess the past few. Maybe he needs to be on medication?

it seems to me like the whole painkiller addiction flew under the radar. Probably because he handled it directly, instead of denying for a long time, which seems status quo these days (that and because he avoided fine/suspension from the NFL by doing that)

Let's forget about playing right after his father passed away; his wife fighting cancer; his brother-in-law passing. An addiction from 10+ years ago absolutely makes his personal life a mess.

The guy is having to give up the one thing he does very, very well and that he loves to do. Cut him a break if its a tough decision. Yes he is handling it poorly. Many people handle retirement poorly, they just don't have to do it in the public eye.

I'm sure football looks a lot more appealing in July than it does right after the season. Your body is healed, you haven't had a 300 lb man jump on you recently and no one has put you through 2 a days in weeks.

Favre is like one of those guys who just won't get off the ice.

*cough* Foppa *cough*

That game the night after his Dad died is one of the most amazing performances I've ever seen in sports.
