Need some advice on a new curve

Recommended Posts

Right now I am using the Barker pro return curve, which looks like this:

I really like this curve, but I'm having trouble controlling the puck and keeping it down. Would a toe curve be a better option for me?

try something with a more neutral face like the forsberg/pm9. It's not a meat hook, so it shouldn't feel too foreign to you, either.

I had that problem when I was using the Lidstrom. I found that the Sakic worked for me, I liked the lie a little better...but the P88/Lindros is pretty close.

try ROLLING YOUR WRISTS AND TURNING YOUR BOTTOM HAND OVER ON THE FOLLOW THROUGH! Remember that the puck goes wherever you point the toe of the blade!

Thanks for all the help guys. Would a toe curve work as well though? I've heard it does, and gives you the versatility of a low hard shot or a quick one upstairs.

I'm currently using a pro stock Elias that has a toe curve and I cant say thats true from my experience so far. I'll need more experience with it, but i can say you get a little more velocity on your shot with the toe curve (my experience thus far)

1. It's not the curve, it's the shooter.

2. Assuming you don't want to change the way you shoot, any curve will work better for you if it has less loft.

3 Sounds like you want to get a toe curve no matter what. Buy one and try it.

I have the same problem when using a Drury, and my curve of choice is the Forsberg. For whatever reason, I just can't roll my wrists over enough with the Drury to shoot low, but the Forsberg I just point and shoot. Give it a shot, a little less curve, a lot less loft, same basic curve type.

It's not the best solution, but it works for me. And they're a lot easier to find that toe curves.

I thought it sounded stupid, but I concentrated on doing it at a practice today and I really noticed the difference. Man, I feel like a dumbass now.

But you can always blame it on the tapejob, right? :P

It's amazing how many people never really learn to shoot properly. It's not a knock on the players as much as their coaches.

Yeah I'd have to agree. I always went to shooting schools when I was young, I think I just shoot just because now rather than shoot to score back then...kind of a concentration thing I think.

I have a pro stock elias right now and I hate it. Too long of a blade and I can't keep my shots down.

It is a longish blade. But keeping your shots down is the operator's error. Thats no reason to hate a curve. If the lie is off, thats a reason to hate the curve.
