Lewis Black: Root of all Evil

Recommended Posts

Just wondered what anyone thought of him having a show coming up.

There have been a few shows on Comedy Central that I thought had the potential to become good (Drawn Together, Kenny vs. Spenny) and they turned out to be complete bombs.

On the flipside of that, there were shows that I thought would be awful (Reno 911, Tough Crowd) that I thought turned out to be really cool.

Lewis Black's stand-up is really solid, but will it necessarily translate into a good television show? I hope so.

Kenny vs. Spenny was a good concept that worked well on BBC. The problem with the version that was shown on Comedy Central was that Kenny and Spenny were complete tossers. While the BBC guys were someone that the viewer could associate with, The US version had: to put it bluntly "hipster doofus assholes". All that made the BBC version seem like a couple of friends challenging each other was lost when you replace them with 2 guys who seemed destined to fail in the hipster stand-up comedy market.

-Good call on Reno911. Took a while to grow on me, but I can't live without it.]

-Lewis Black should have a field day on his new special. Can't wait to hear his perspective on things.

I cannot wait to see it. I think it will be good. Lewis Black’s standup is good, I like his work in most of the movies he’s in and when he’s on the daily show he is always funny.

Reno used to be so much better. I don't even watch anymore; it's almost like they're trying too hard.

I can't say I watch too much Comedy Central, and I don't think I'm going to go out of my way to catch this new show. I am, however, looking forward to the book Black is going to have coming out. I'm a student, so the prospect of reading something I might actually enjoy has me a little excited.

I've seen lewis black live a couple of times, and love him.

I hope it goes well, and I will tune in. Hopefully people will not see it as just more of the same, which would lead to early cancellation

Nah, he's a bit too bitter and yelly for my tastes.

As a fan of both Lewis Black and "the soup", I can't wait for this. Lewis Black making fun of pop culture? You can't go wrong.

I can see where you're coming from on that, but I think it's still funnier than a lot of other shows on television. It came down with "South Park" syndrome a lot sooner than South Park did, which by my definition is just putting out the same show, still relatively funny, but not as good as when it started.
