you can easily make the LS2's black through a myriad of different methods. Search and you may find.

Black custom+ holders are available here and there. Check with your LHS's areound your area and they may have some

I wouldn't recommend black custom+ holders....I went through 2 pairs in about 3 months because they got cracked (and one of them shattered) from taking shots to them.

i've actually never used LS2s. i've been on white custom+ for like 6 years, and i am totally in love with them.

seperate question... will LS2s mount to existing holes in the boot drilled for Custom+?

not finding what you're referring to. could you link me?

No. And LS2s are different from C+ in pitch, radius, and flex, so don't assume you'll like them just because they're Tuuks. Even if you profile them to get your familiar pitch and radius, they feel very different.

totalhockey.net used to sell colored ones including black I believe. I don't see them on their site anymore. I had some blue ones for a bit. They are white ones that are colored by dying them.

In short, no. Some of them line up enough to get it started, but you have to drill some new holes

If he's going to need new holes drilled, perhaps black E-pros might fit the bill.

From what I have read on this board, they are somewhat similar to the LS2 in that the pitch is neutral and the holder is stiff.

Thankfully, those chrome stickers can be removed.

i actually have some e-pro's sitting around (came off my new tacks) maybe i'll try those out. too bad first i need a boot that i'm happy with! it's sounding like i should just stick with the custom+ holders based on the comments above. if anything, i wish they were a bit taller, but i'm definitely comfortable on them, so i'll probably start there. i think i'll live with white holders... i just like the look of black a lot better.

LS2 are 3mm taller than Custom+ and the ePro's are slightly taller than the LS2(if I recall)? Though both are neutral the LS2 worked out much better for myself. I didn't feel connected to the ice with the ePro's.

You can take these to a reputable hockey shop and get them dyed using a process that is a bit more scientific than using RIT dye. It may set you back $50, but seems to be the "Safer" way to go, plus you transfer the liability onto the LHS and not you. I've never had them dyed, but I talked to a guy about the process and it makes sense.

the LS2 is 3mm taller in the front and back? (resulting in similar pitch?) i'd like to keep the same pitch, or maybe tilt forward just a hair, but definitely not backward from my custom+ holders.

also, whats all this business about them being stiffer than custom+... does that really make a difference (other than the way they feel)?

EDIT: i found the link to the instructions for RIT dye. i'm posting the link here so that in the future, people viewing this thread will have it.

i can't wait to try this. i'm going to get the stuff i need, and try dyeing the e-pro holders that are sitting on my floor.

Kariya doesn't have problems with them and he is the pickiest of them all!

I guess you could add Jagr to the mix as well.

Correct. Whatever black Custom+ holders you will find will be old stock. Once they start to get old they become brittle and will crack easier. I'm not saying that you should avoid them like the plague, just be aware of the potential for cracking when making your decision.

In regards to the pros that are using them, we have no idea how often they have to be replaced by the equipment guys. It's not like they have a press release whenever some repair work is done. It happens a lot more than you'd think. And with the way that pro players get all kinds of custom equipment, who's to say that NBH isn't still producing enough to meet the demand for the NHL only?

If it helps at all, I just e-mailed a bunch of retailers (hockey geeks, hockey monkey, cyclone taylor, and hockey giant to be exact) and they all gave me the same answer. Black LS2's are not being made, and if they are... they are not available to anyone who isn't in the NHL. They did tell me that I could Dye my current LS2's and it just seems like too much of a hassle to do it.

NBH still has C+ black in stock. You just have to call them.

Epro isnt as stiff as LS2 but isnt as soft as custom+

LS2 and Epro are both neutral.

I have black E-Pros and I really like them.

Is it old stock or are they still turning out a few here and there because of the pro demand?
