One90 return...

Recommended Posts

NBH, should be sending you the next product up from the One90's. It would literally cost them a few bucks, nothing more. The reason why the skates cost so much, is because of all of the people getting a cut. The plant in China that makes them doesn't sell them to NBH for $200, probably more like, $50 a pair.

Offering Store Credit means nothing. What if a store 2 towns over has that skate that he is looking for, he should be able to go to that store and get them. That just guarantees the store will get to make the sale. If I went to buy skates that broke, I would n ot accept a store credit for something I didn't need.

If they are out of stock on that, then it's their problem, take care of the customer, that is who makes them a multi million company at the end of the day! If you keep a customer happy once, he will be loyal for life.

In NBH's defense -

This should've been resolved at the STORE level. The only time a consumer should be able to talk to NBH directly is to process a composite stick warranty. When you called NBH, you had an option for consumer and retailers. You chose consumer, and it took you to composite stick warranty. You either told the stick person you needed to talk about skates, or you hung up and chose retailer.

Now, yes, the skate is not made anymore. So, in essence, your only option is store credit. And for those talking about ONE95s - they fit differently! Why stick him into something that isn't the same? Plus, made in Canada with a higher cost...

I'm sorry, but you just happened to have a lazy store manager/owner who decided to pass the buck instead of trying to resolve the issue for you. He knew damn well that the only solution would be store credit. He could've called the sales rep and arrange something. Hell, I did it last year for someone who wanted a discontinued skate. They had it in MINNESOTA!

So, I think it's unfair for you guys to take potshots at NBH in this instance. Stores need to be a little bit more proactive when it comes to issues like that.

I don't think it should really matter who solves it. One or the other should step up. You still can find ONE90s.

wow... even on a HOCKEY website, my car is cooler than my (apparently lame) skates. don't worry... they're in the process of breaking already, so they'll be replaced anyway.

anyway, i definitely agree that this should be handled on the shop level. if they can give you store credit, i dont see why that would be a problem for you. it is a pain that you cant just get new one90's, but i think that's the best they can do.

I guess I'll chime back in I tried to repond to all questions directed my way so its a bit long...again if you don't read the whole post at least read the last part!

In regards to be it being a store level complaint, I totally get that as I read on here that stores handle everything but OPS problems so I was a bit put off at the Store Manager basically washing his hands of it and directing me to the manufactuer, never thought of asking him to contact his rep though def not extending the effort there...

To the people who said just take the store credit and buy something else like the new one95's. I saved up for months so I could afford new skates and waited till the LHS started clearing out their old stock so I could get a top of the line skate and not have to pay over $500 for it. Now if I go back to the store with my credit most of the models I was looking at are sold out and similar top end options will cost significantly more than I had budgeted...

I guess thats what I get for waiting...

To the people who asked what I expected:

I think some people put out some good suggestions like offering to repair them, replacing them, or I would have accepted something as simple as taking down my contact info and checking with a manager or someone else and letting me know if I had any other options. I wasn't expecting NBH to roll out the red carpet or "drive them to me and tie them" as one poster suggested I was just looking for a little more than a generic answer to show that my loyalty to their brand meant something.

I work in retail on the weekends and I still enjoy the appreciation and thanks I get from a customer when I go above and beyond when trying to solve a problem they have trust me it definately makes a difference when they are choosing where to shop...

To those who asked why I would want another pair after the broke:

They fit me well and that was the most important thing to me, sure there are other skates out there but will they fit...

Also nice car by the way and yes on a hockey forum that car is still much sweeter than the skates no offense...

IN DEFENSE OF NBH

I was contacted by an employee of the company who also is a member of this forum shortly after I posted the intial topic, he said they stand behind their product and took down my info and said he would take it to customer service to see what can be down. THAT KIND OF COMMITMENT TO BOTH THE CUSTOMER AND HIS OWN COMPANY IS AWESOME. I'm very thankful for someone who extended a helping hand in this matter.

I will update this when I hear back from NBH.

Is there anyone else who can't wait for the "My replacement One90's dead after 3 skates" thread?

Without cost and with less effort than it took to make an unhappy customer the NBH phone rep should have simply taken his info, called other shops and the NBH salesman for that area. Find another pair locally or then move on to stores in other areas-stores that paid full wholesale might be happy to return a pair of skates that are now on sale everywhere?

I agree 100%. Nike wonders why they aren't making more money in the hockey business? Customer loyalty. Just because an action made right now doesn't turn a profit today doesn't mean it won't in the long run. If my memory from undergrad business classes is correct, this is just another example of EE, expected equity. Moreover, why couldn't they just find another pair in his sides within the same area? It would've been cheap and kept a happy customer. Isn't giving a store credit best for the customer? Well, sometimes it would be, but doesn't sound like it is here. We can all understand finding something you really like, only to find when it breaks that there aren't any more...

Nike dumped hockey because they way overestimated the market growth for hockey equipment and overpaid for Canstar. As such, they were not experiencing anywhere near the return on investment that they were hoping Bauer would provide. It has nothing to do with customer loyalty as Nike Bauer is still a stop player in the hockey game.

You're like the guy who bought a second Edsel.

Take the darned store credit and buy another pair of skates. Take your time and try something else. When when you find what fits (even if it's a competitors brand) get them. Here's your chance to get whatever you want. You may be surprised by what Reebok,CCM,Easton or Mission might have to offer or yes, even GRAF! I've found several different brands that fit my feet just fine.

Why would he do that? He has a top level skate in the ONE90, and he bought them on sale. If he gets the store credit. He'll have to pay out of pocket to get another brands top level skate. The ONE90s should last longer than a month. He shouldn't have to buy anything. There still are ONE90s out there. NBH or his LHS just needs to work something out. Seems to me that either one of them could work a little harder on solving this. It's really not that complicated.
