one peice sticks overated?

Recommended Posts

Even though the stick might be in perfect condition, the fact of the matter is, the stick was used. It is one of, if not THE, cheapest OPS out there, and obviously not using quality materials. After taking a few shots with it, there are probably a few cracks on the inside that you wouldn't be able to see. It makes it shitty for the next guy who buys it, and breaks it on shot number 3 or 4 because it was already cracked. Plus, those have no warranty to begin with, if I remember correctly.

Just reminds me of when I was in retail and someone would take a 200 dollar twig off the shelf, lean on it, bounce on it, and then when it makes a little cracking noise, quickly puts it back on the shelf. Ha. Our store also had a shooting gallery with demo sticks in it to try, but eventually shelf sticks were being taken in there, tried out and put back on the shelf.

For this thread, let's say the shop takes back the used OPS. What happens next is simple: the OP is in the locker room telling his buddies he used this OPS for 20 minutes, didn't like it, returned it for another. Hey, that sounds great to all his buddies. Now they want to buy a OPS, use it for 20 minutes, decide they don't like it and return it. Shop guy says, "sorry, no returns." "But you did it for my buddy!" So, now the shop guy has a huge problem because he changes his store policy for the OP. The next step is as WT19 says, a bunch of semi-used OPS in shop inventory. Would you want to buy a semi-used OPS?

Have to admit I wouldn't....more to it than I thought out. Must be a bugger to have to say no return though, especially to kids.

Posted recently similar to what Graf just said-adults rifting on int & Jr OPS. Some kid ends up losing 1/2 the sticks life....you guys must be busy in stores policing the stick areas.

I just bought this stick but I haven't used it yet. I got it for $40 bucks which is $10 more than it would've cost me to get another 5030. Not that I was expecting great things but is this thing really that bad? Can't be worse than a woody can it?

Oh, it's surely worse than a 5030 by a long shot.

People talk about woodies like they suck. Some wood sticks are even better than some mid and high-end OPS.

It isn't the hammer so much as the carpenter.

I dont think One piece sticks are overrated at all as long as you can utilize the benefits of them.... if you dont have a great shot or good hands alread its not going to turn you into ovechkin...

I think one of the problems with the one piece sticks is people tend to also use ones with too stiff of a flex.. the pros let the stick do the work...and when combined with body movement and weight transfer you get amazing results

I actually use shafts mainly because I like composite shafts and I like wood blades, however I have found the CCM vecot 6.0 blade to give me a wood like feel when handing the puck..

just my 2 cents

crap...I guess I'll be the only guy with an ops backing up a woody. haha :D

I have an easton stealth backing up my buddies broken snergy with a wood blade... i just like the feel better, and to my eyes preforms essentially just as good. It is what works for you, you don't have to use your most expensive stick. Not to mention a snergy 200 is only an OPS by defination, it isn't the cream of the crop.

wouldn't it be a cool idea if stores locked up their sticks like they do at Canadian tire but had a shooting gallery with a full selection of sticks being sold?
