GrafPro55 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2008 Well, the video starting with a shot of your junk, isn't appreciated. Ending it by crashing into the camera isn't smooth, either. The skating, however, isn't bad. Get some equipment on. You can't get as aggressive if you know that falling will result in pain. I find when I am coaching with just skates and gloves, my stride and style automatically gets more conservative. Get a bit lower. I didn't make the videos for the purposes of getting feedback. I just decided to post them since I had them.I'll prob take another video of me actually skating harder and faster next time I go (which will be tomorrow). Jordan 13 Report post Posted March 23, 2008 Okay. 1) Posture, posture, posture. You are bent forward at the waste. There is no way for you to develop either power in your stride nor balance if your trunk is bent forward like that. You must think about getting your head and chest up and facing a level horizon.2) Once your posture is correct, then add knee bend. Gradually increase speed and power by increasing knee bend, but never at the expense of good posture.Do a number of edging exercises, such as scallops, one foot scallops then up to inside edges, and outside edge drills. Once you can do these with good posture, progress to drills where you change edges foreards and backward independant of direction change.Youe goal is to disconnect your lower body movements from your upper body movements. Jordan 13 Report post Posted March 25, 2008 Since it will be difficult to explain on this forum, I would suggest a couple of things:1) get soemone to show you some basic drills, get a friend or take a private lesson from a power skating instructor...or watch a kid's class and then copy their drills.2) get one of the 8 million power skating videos out there. BK 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2008 It will show us a few things.First off your stride. Even the pros work on their stride, so its a good place to start. 2nd is the power of your crossovers. Maintaining speed while skating is key, being able to accelerate from your turns will make your game explode. Lastly I say to do three laps because your stride will change as you get tired. masterpeice_patrice 4 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 wear a helmet when u do those laps. my newbie cousin got brave at a public skate ended up doing a tripple axel then landing on his face... sprianed his wrist and banged up his shoulder looooool. take ur time maybe u should take figure skating lessons? alot of hockey players do that. its more like power skating. Leafsrok 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2008 you look way too bent over at the waist. remember, your nose, knees and toes should all be in allignment.you can practice this positioning (it sounds really silly) by standing against a wall and having your nose, knees and toes all touching at the same time.
