yeah, with 2 games left in the bruins season and them close to clinching a playoff spot they decide to air the 4th game of the red sox, only 158 games left

what the f***

nesn, who broadcasts the b's says they are telecasting the game on another channel but literally after clicking through each of my 500 channels the game is no where to be found

whoa I'm pissed

Doesn't surprise me. I'm sure if the Reds had played at night yesterday instead of during the day I wouldn't have gotten a sniff of the Blue Jackets game.

In a slightly unrelated note does anyone know what's up w/ the playoffs as far as TV coverage? The commercials have me thinking that the playoffs are all on Versus but I would think that at least the opening rounds would still be on local affiliates.

you can't really blame nesn, you gotta go with what more people are gonna watch. while i would rather be watching the bruins, the overwhelming majority of new england would rather watch a spring training game then see the bruins in the playoffs.

and on dish network, i'm getting nesn's broadcast of the bruins game on an alternate channel just above nesn.

it's all about the redsox, remember at the begining of the hockey season when the bruins and redsox were scheduled on the same day the B's game would get moved to 4:00 to accomidate haha

Trevor is right that the Sox pull better numbers than the B's; more importantly, the Sox own NESN. It's obvious they are going to "advertise" their own product before Jacobs'.

At least they put the B's on another channel, although perhaps not everyone receives the alternate channel.

By the way, there's a sadness attached to your statement about living in a non hockey city, because Boston was as rabid about the Bruins in the 70's as any city in the league. Just based on seeing/hearing the crowds on TV, I'd say the Bruins fans were more passionate than any of the US cities at the time.

I don't see any conclusion other than Jacobs ran that team into the ground.

Yeah I was pretty pissed when I showed up to a bar to watch the game and the Sox were on. Don't get me wrong I love the Sox too but the B's are #1 in my book. Finaly we got them to find the sencond channel with game on. I know the Red Sox put up better numbers but they should have taken a little more consideration into the meaning of the the Bruin's game. Why not put the Sox on the alternate channel, Oh well. Everyone in the place I was at wanted to see the Bruin's, not the Sox. I got to see the game, the Bruin's clinched playoff birth, its all good in the neighborhood.

That really is sad, I always assumed Boston and MA would love hockey. So many hockey players come from MA and have a bunch of great college hockey teams in Boston. I would assume hockey would be a bit more popular. But I know the pain, in New York if the Rangers and Knicks play on the same night, the Knicks ALWAYS play on the main channel and it's kinda of a pain to catch the Rangers. Not all cable providers show MSG2.

Atleast the Sox are good now, and if not hockey your watching a good product.

THE KNICKS SUCK, THEY JUST SUCK, why are they on the main channel. I hate basketball, but to be fair, doesn't atleast MSG want to promote a decent team in the Rangers instead of the CRAP Knicks.

On a side not, Doesn't it seem like espn is always trying to sell the NBA to people. They lead off with the NBA even with baseball back. I don't know people who LOVE NBA. I know people who LOVE MLB or NFL or NHL but Basketball.

NOTE TO ESPN: STOP SELLING ME THE NBA, I DON'T ENJOY THE EASEAST GAME ON EARTH.

I'm 5"10 and I can dunk, watching people 7"2 jump and inch to dunk all night long is not hard. THE NBA IS A JOKE.

there still is a love for hockey, it just can't compete with the redsox, hockey fans are hockey fans but everyone that lives in new england is a redsox fan. its hard to compete with that.

There is so much residual distaste for Jacobs that a lot of people gave up on the Bruins years ago. His reputation for being a cheap owner has cost the B's tons of fans. Sure, with the cap in place Jacobs' penny-pinching ways shouldn't be a factor but people hate him so much that they don't care. The B's will continue to be number 4 in Boston until Jacobs sells the team.

I think part of the issue is the bruins don't really have a player the fans can all get behind in terms of energy and scoring. I mean I love Savard but people who are not truly hockey fans can't really appreciate what he does as he is not a goal scorer. I mean think about, in the nineties who did people go to see Neely or Oates? Definitely Neely, and it was because would hit, fight, and score, and no one really cared that Oates had far more points. I think the best bet for the Bruins to become more popular in Boston is to keep developing our young players because watching Krejci, Kessel, and Lucic (as well as looking at Karsums performance in Providence and the potential of Zach Hamill ) this year I see the potential for bring back the glory days of Bruins. On another note did anyone notice that last night Jack Edwards kept saying the Bruins could not get above 7th place? But if we beat Buffalo we would have 96 points to Ottawa's 94, he was saying the fact Ottawa would have one more win would put them in front of the B's which makes no sense (had to throw that out there because he kept stressing it). Personally due to our poor play against Montreal and the pure fact that it would be fun to watch I would rather see us play Washington, provided they win tonight.

being from NY (LI really) it sucks having to watch the Knicks, and since i'm at school upstare, Buffalo takes over most of the time, then the Knicks then rangers. As much as the knicks suck, its still a tourist thing and celeb thing to be seen at a knicks game while in NYC. I say each sports team should have its own channel and then things would be nice and easy.

Considering he made a number of great trades over his career, I've never understood why Sinden gets lumped in with the Bruins' downfall. It was obvious he was following Jacobs' orders.

I live in kentucky and get to see almost no hockey at all, and screw the kentucky derby after what they did last year. Living in a non hockey 'state' sucks.

NESN was supposed to telecast on channel 8 (I have RCN) but the game was never on there. That channel is a blank channel and they were telecasting one of their music choice channels

exciting

anyways, the bruins are in the playoffs so I'm pretty pumped.

16 teams made the playoffs. Only one scored less goals over the season than they gave up. I know this is tough, but any guesses??

Actually, that might not be as onerous as it sounds, because it leads me to believe they get blown out occasionally, but have a fair share of close games. I would have much rather played Pittsburgh, however.

+1 on that one.... They manage to play ok against the Pens. MTL, on the other hand... I'm being as optimistic as I can, Jason... haha. Pressures ALL on the Habs, Bruins should have a "nothing to lose" mentality, and play hard... not sure where it'll get 'em... good hockey regardless. This series is def. one of the few "David vs Goliath" matchups in the 1st round.
