So I see that the NEW ST's only have 2 ribs instead of 3. Why is that?

doubt it, they are now long-hoseled so it's hard to tell.

Short hosel standard tenon was a bad idea to begin with. Not for the kickpoint/balance, but for the fact that you'd have to only use ST blades or jazz with wood plugs and tape jobs.

I didn't notice a big weight difference at all. The new st feels a bit boxier.
