I was disappointed with the Caps sale this year. Maybe it's because I got there at 1:00 when the general public was allowed in, but they didn't have much. No gloves, helmets, or visors, sparse stick selection, and some jerseys. Only cool thing was they brought in all the jerseys and socks from the prospect game right after they played, still wet with sweat and water. Somebody lucky got a Alzner "game" worn practice jersey.

I just saw Allsmoke's gloves... I guess I should have found a way to get into the sale with the season ticket holders. If you read this, what other gloves, if any, did they have?

went in during one of the season ticket-holders sessions and there was absolutely NOTHING but old, old, jerseys and lots of lefty sticks, some smaller skates. i was hoping snag a few pairs of edge socks, but oh well. was talking to one of the equipment guys, said that they had a lot less to sell versus last season because last time they were trying to get rid of all the old logo stuff, along with some manufacturers like CCM changing their logo too. not the longest trip up from richmond, but certainly disappointed to leave empty-handed

Yeah, I remember seeing them wheel in those practice jerseys. I'm pretty sure that rack got swamped right away, but then what didn't?

In my case, I was after a few sticks and a pair of gloves and I was pretty disappointed when I discovered that there weren't any mitts. I did see a few kids with some new RBK gloves still in their bags earlier, but I'm assuming they were grabbed during the season ticket holder hours. The only thing I walked away with after my 2 and a half hour drive and hour wait in line was an old Bryan Muir synergy grip. Better than nothing, I guess.

yup all the gloves went fast even for the season tix holders.. I got in on the ten o'clock (in the bottom half mind you) and saw about 10 people walking around with bagged gloves.. oh well.. I did wind up grabbing 3 warrior sticks (mac daddy, shogun, and a Kronik) the guy that i went with wound up snagging one of Olie's stick and a Laich Dolomite

I was in the first session for the Caps equipment sale.

I picked up stuff for myself and some friends and yes, I did some gear whoring.

1. 3 pairs of gloves for myself. (1) Milan Jurcinia bauer 4 rolls (2) Team Slovakia MIA gloves (these are awesome) (3) Generic RBK red white and blue gloves.

2. 4 pairs of RBK red white and blue gloves for friends (all spoken for)

3. I used pair of navy blue pants (Laing's pants) and 1 new pair of pants.

4. Stealth 2005 pro stock Lidstrom curve for a friend.

5. Practice jersey

6. 4 pairs of edge socks

7. Some misc no name game worn jerseys.

I did whore out on the gloves, but when I was there, they had a TON of them so I didn't feel too bad.

I did hear that some people grabbed 20 or so sticks at a time. Also, one dude grabbed all the Semin sticks and was on the phone selling them right away.

There is a lot of complaining going on at the Caps boards, but those people haven't read the horror stories on this board and others about other team sales. Were there lines? Absolutely, but it was still well run. Perhaps next year they will put limits on things, but the bottom line is they wanted to get rid of all this stuff. Also, they just didn't have the same amount of stuff as last year because last year was the switch to red white and blue so they got rid of ALL of the black stuff.

I think the problem with this years sale is, people were remembering how much stuff they had at last years sale. But that was because they had changed color schemes so all the gloves and helmets and pants were no good anymore.

So they had buckets more stuff.

The generic RBK gloves are made by MIA, they had lots of those because they were not the proper uni color, so the entire batch was up for sale. And for only $45 too.

I could have had some sticks, and in hindsight, wish I had, considering they had Kozlov's warrior sticks for $25. The only other righty curves I saw there were Clymer and Gordon (both $25 for the used ones, which looked like new anyway).

Maybe next year. I wasn't even sure I would make it so getting out with the gloves was good enough for me

How do you know the generic RBKs were made by MIA? I got some RBK's and a pair of Team Slovakia (Jiri Novotny's) gloves (marked MIA on the cuff) and they are totally different. The RBK's seem to be one of the most protective gloves I've ever seen.

Because I bought a pair, and it's got the MIA logo on the tag and "Manufactured by MIA" on it.

But I agree, they are unbelievably protective.

I'll put a pic of the mia tag up later when I get home

Cool. I'll check mine when I get home.... Did you see any Team Slovakia gloves when you were there? I think there were 3-5 pairs. Since I had never tried MIA's I grabbed them and they are NICE!

Jesus no wonder there weren't any gloves by the 11 clock session. 7 pairs of gloves. I tried to get a pair but they were all spoken for when I got in 1st group for the 11 session.

I made out pretty well on the sticks cuz my gf kept finding good ones for me (esp. my Laich Synergy Elite).

At the time there were probably at least 50-75 pairs on the table and they kept bringing out more. They said they were reserving stuff for each session, so I didn't feel too bad.

Yeah there were maybe 5 pairs at the 11 oclock session. I mean if I had the funds I'd buy a lot too haha. I think they were reserving stuff but I think the majority of gear was at the 9am session. There were no helmets, shin guards, elbow pads, or socks at the 11.

I do know that they had 3 helmets in total, all of which were sold to Caps employees the night before.

At 9am, they had about 10 pairs of Shins, mostly Fury's. Nothing too impressive.

There was one pair of elbow pads that I saw, both pads were left, so they got thrown back.

People found the edge socks in a box and went through them quickly, because they were marked for the player.

For the most part, year after year, I expect it to be mostly sticks, pants and gloves and old, no name jerseys. Last year was the year where they had tons of stuff.

Yeah I was hoping to get a RH stick and lucked out with 4 so I cannot complain. I was really happy about getting some ice pants as I really needed though and got some really nice RBK ones for 45 bucks. If you ever decide to part with some of your Caps gloves let me know :)

Speaking of gloves, I came in search of a pair of Vapor XXXXs since I knew a few Caps wore them (though I think most Nike/Bauer glove wearers on the team had XXXs). I'm curious, were there any of those at the sale?

I didn't see any, and it depends on which player uses them. Apparently Fedorov, Semin and Ovey took their gloves with them to the worlds, since the colors were the same, and they were already there. I know Semin uses NBH stuff, not sure who else wears nbh gloves

Semin, Jurcina and Backstrom I believe are NBH guys. Feds use Warrior. I would've loved those gloves.

haha. I can thank my gf for the gear it was a nice gift. I heard the 1 oclock got all the gear from the scrimmage people. I wish I was in that group. Newer sticks, gloves, and chance for an Alzner jersey.
