Grand Theft Auto 4

I beat that Old Hospital mission in one try...I just killed all the bikers fairly easily, and ran out as fast as I could, shot maybe one or two cops on the way, got in a car and got away. Are you guys not playing with auto-aim or something?

I'm pretty sure there is body armour in the last room where you get the coke. If you are careful you should have mostly full life by the time you get there, then add on the body armour when you run out and the cops won't be able to kill you before you get to a car and get away.

Soooo pissed last night though, I played the mission where Roman is kidnapped and you got to rescue him, killed everybody, got all the way through, and then when we are walking out, for no reason he runs into me, trips and falls off the building and dies...have to do it all again.

I hate that mission where you have to rescue roman, it took me like three or four times to do it because i would kill everyone in the house but i would end up shooting roman or not killing the guy quick enough, and it was pretty hard due to the free aim and you are on the other side of the room.

I rescued Roman, got outside, got in the truck and I must have hit a land mine. Did it again and drove the opposite direction- no problem. I didn't mind doing it again, it was fun and easy. I used the AK from the middle of the room, all you have to do it hit him, no headshot or anything, take the shoulder, much bigger target.

Switch to the sniper rifle when you get to Roman - you have time.

You can also zoom in one level with the AK...makes it pretty easy to go for head shots.

Ive got a couple questions,

Does anyone know what "like %" is required to be able to buy guns from Little Jacob? Im at around 59% like.

Another question is about Law chick, i took her to that italian restaurant, she hated it. What are places she will be happy with?

I took her to the comedy show and she liked it. I think if you check their profiles online it gives you sort of clues as to what they might like, but I can't remember what her's said.

She likes simple things, comedy club and the diners, even Cluckin' Bell. She'll drink and then bitch at Niko about his other whores.

I think you need to hit 75% with Jacob.

As a die-hard GTA fan (I've played them all since GTA 1, yes 1 [overhead 2D view, on PC]) I am pretty disappointed with GTA IV. Not sure how they managed to get so much hype in the media, and online prior to the release, but this is probably one of the most non-innovative GTA's to date. Let's see here:

Awesome functions available in other games, not available in GTA IV:

* Buying safehouses - I hate how they just give you houses in this one, lame.

* Owning businesses - used to be a great way to get some extra cash in Vice City

* Planes - are you kidding me? That was one of the greatest things ever, have you had a dog fight in a harrir jet over San Andreas?

* Car customization - the cars and driving in the new GTA suck, nuff said. They took away the customization, which was actually a pretty sweet function in San Andreas, especially the turbo boost.

* Ambulance missions/Fire truck missions - was a good waste of time in all the other games

* Car lists - ok, so you still have this, but you don't get to just go and pick up the cars which you stole if you want, which is bs.

* Base jumping - was fantastic to just climb on top of a big tower in San Adreas and jump off with a parachute, or even jump out of a plane.

* Diving underwater - sad they took this away, was a great feature to elude cops

Either way, those are just the big ones, there is plenty more missing from the new game.

The multi player is definitely barely above average, nothing special, I spent maybe a few hours smoking everyone online until it got really old, quickly.

The plot is ok, but not as interesting and involving as and of the GTA's before.

It took me about a week and a half to beat the storyline and I really didn't feel like completing any of the stupid side missions (pigeon shooting, drug deals, w/e).

Final thoughts: I am not saying this is a bad game, it's great actually: sweet graphics, cool car designs, cell phone is handy, internet is a funny quirk. I really feel like they scaled this game WAAY down to make room for multi player and that's really a big shame. If you've never played GTA before, you will be amazed, if you have played the games before, you will feel shorthanded with this one.

^^

* Buying safehouses - Agree, I want a place to crash round every corner.

* Owning businesses - Agree, would have added to the game.

* Planes - The map may well be too small for jets but a small bi-plane or cessna wouldn't have been bad.

* Car customization - Disagree, at this stage I think it's trying to have too many features in 1 game.

* Ambulance missions/Fire truck missions - Disagree although it was good to every so often do the missions, it would have taken away from some of the realism I think they added to the game this time round.

* Car lists - Sure why not.

* Base jumping - Mehh, maybe have one on a skyskraper on a mission but thats about all it should be IMO.

* Diving underwater - Yeh, would have been a decent feature but I didn't miss sleep over it.

Few of my own...

Driving camera, when turning a corner it doesn't turn with you so you could be driving into anything after turning a corner. Imo that should be changed.

Handbreak, nuff said.

More hotdog stands! Before attempting a mission that could turn nasty I run round the city like a fool to get a hotdog and fill up my health.

More map and more varied terrain like GTA S.A but not as much rammle.

A place to store guns and multiple cars.

As much as the relationships and friendships part of the game was fun at first it became tedious.

---

Note. I haven't actually completed the game yet, so some of the things I've said might not be relevent to the entire game. :D

I just unlocked the second big island. The times square part is incredible!

I almost feel like theres too much open already. I'm having to drive back and forth across all these freakin islands cause I still have missions for Brucie and I'm trying to get my stats with LJ up, but my safe house is on the wrong island! It is kinda of annoying. I liked how in GTA 3 and in Vice City it didnt take very long to learn a city. I understand having a immense and deep world but if I didnt have the map and the GPS line it draws on it I dont think I could make it anywhere at all.

The safe house thing is kinda annoying as in not being able to buy smaller ones or whatever in different parts and you're only confined to one. But yeah driving through that area during night time is awesome.

You get a safehouse in Bohan, Alderney and Algonquin (well based on one mission you get two safehouses if you choose to spare the right guy)

A or RB

RB is a break? :o

Maybe my continuous use of walls to steer can all be down to this! I'll attempt RB tommorow, as of now I've only used A and LT; LT seems to be the lesser of the 2 evils with A just sending me in ridiculas spins even at the slowest speeds and LT cutting my turning circle to that of Link Gaetz and being just about as useful.

I meant it kinda sucks that they took out the element of being able to buy properties. I'm not that far along so I got the one in Algonquin which sucks if one of your buddies call you to pick them up in an hour and you hit traffic. Ugh.. :P

Use a taxi, and even if you're past an hour they just bitch for a second.

It is annoying being on Alderney and getting a call to go hang in Brohan though.

Once you open the third island, just go to the helitours place and jack a helicopter, it will get you anywhere in like 5 mins at most. Of course, due to the lack of a parachute, it isn't quite as awesome to jump out of it in mid flight and paraglide to meet your date at the door.

P.S. If you are feeling bored, take a helitour and try to jump out of the helicopter onto a boat on the river, always a good time, especially after a few beers.

Picking the right McReary brother gives you "clear wanted level" as a cell option.

Just got the $500,000 achievement, also unlocked the missions with the new mob boss (not Pegorino).

The game is getting easy though. Headshots with the M4 is easy, and driving is getting to the point where I can steal a car for Steve in industrial Alderney and drive balls to the wall to the garage and still get full value for it.
