Custom XXXX or One95

Recommended Posts

I have been trying to find the right fitting skate with no success recently. I have a narrow heal and ankel area as well as a relivly narrow fore foot. I have a pair of Vapor XXX (7d) that fit me too wide in the ankle area and I skate with the top eyelit undone for more forward flex.

I recently purchased a pair of Graf 703's (narrow) that fit me pretty well, but too soft in the ankle. I was looking online and found that Eastwest Hockey in northern California does custom Bauer skates. I called up there and spoke with a guy descirbing my foot. He seemed to think I could do either a custom One95 or XXXX that would fit me.

I'm not sure which would be better, but I know I like a decent amount of forward flex which it sounds like maybe neither will do. Also on my Vapor XXX skates I got real bad lace bite and had to have the felt tounges doubled. I was told the One95 is a lower cut skate than the XXXX which I was thinking might be better for forward flex.

What do you guys think. Anyone have any recomendations for lhs in Southern California for custom orders? Thanks

If 703s fit well, why not go with the G3 or Ultra G3? Don't let someone talk you into a brand or model because that's what they sell. Worst case, you know how they fit, just order them a little stiffer than normal retail.

I have stupidly narrow feet and have been in a C width one90 for the past year. Truely I've never been this happy with a skate in my life. Before these I skated in, albeit with issues, the XXX and G3.

Like Cavs I'm in a C width as well in the One90. I'm 6'3" 180 so I'm sure my foot type is fairly close to yours. I have worn the XXXs and XXs in a D width. I didn't have any fit issues in the XXs but when they changed the liner in XXXs my heel started slipping after a couple years of use (XXs had the grip liner the XXXs had the slippier Hydrophobic). Like Chadd said you might want to try the G3 or Ultra G3--those are lower cut than any of Bauer skates. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought lace bite is caused by the boot not being enough volume for you--maybe you have a narrow foot but need more volume in a skate.

In my XXX skates, I didnt feel like my heel was slipping but need the area around my ankle tighter. The area around the heel and right above it is not tight enough. I think what has partially been causing my lace bite, is the fact that I have to crank the last two eyelits too tight to try and get the support I am lacking due to fit.

I also dont lace the top eyelit and like a deep knee bend in my stride. I have my steel pitched forward to put me where I like to be. Does anyone here know anyone in Southern California that is qualified and good to get their input as to the custom Bauer or if they think it will or will not work? Thanks for the input!

I have same problem in XXXs (D width) heel started to slip after 1 year of use. Recently i have changed to XXXX D width but again the heel loose after 1 month of use.

Is both C width, D width same length of inner sole?

Yes.

Sounds like you need skates in a C width with a AA heel. Those retail skates that are available in a C width normally would have an A heel.

It may be that you want to get customs in C/AA.
