Got my Briere s17 prostock

Recommended Posts

the only reason he says SE is because it doesnt appear to have the ellipse goin, making it a painted SE

what does 'SE' stand for?

Synergy Elite

I see - I though it means something else, because I have SE on my XXXX stick - what does it mean in that context?

Z-Tac is the best thing Easton invented.

what is it and what is it for ??

It's kind of hard to explain. I think the first generation of synergys had it. You can kind of see the finish in 2 of my pics. Instead of the blade being smooth like all the OPS today, its got this rigid sandpaperish finish when you touch it. Think Rhino Lining on a blade, just not THAT rigid.

I dont know if it's the stick or the coating, but this stick has great feel too.

The Briere is VERY similar to the Getzlof, Same color and almost exact curve. The Getzlof was also an SE painted to be the S17. I dont remember the Getz having Z-TAC though. I would have to guess the lie on the Briere is MUCH lower than the Getz. It was a high 6,7ish or so.

It's a top coating finish. My Zubov ST/SE has it sanded off the blade on the bulk of it, where he taped it.

marvelous in many ways, durability, feel, etc.

SE for NBH OPS is usually Special Edition, no?

Yes, lines up perfectly with a one90 naslund I have, so...around 5.5ish, little more towards 5.

Briere blade touches the surface alot more from heel to toe though, unlike sakic comes way off the ground towards the mid/toe. Whats it called like the "rocker", "radius" or something like that?

I can't see your pics for some reason, but I have the same stick (Briere pro stock, S17 graphics, no eliptical shape, Z-Tac, etc).

- Mine is around 85 flex

- Feels heavy to me to be an SE, but not really sure (no stickers as far as I can see)

- The huge open wedge seems to get me a lot of velocity on wrist shots, but stick handling is a little tougher

- Snap/slap shots sometimes feel a little "dampened" depending on where I catch the puck on the blade

- Keeping the puck down is not easy to to. The first time a tried using this stick in a game, I took a slapshot on a rush a few feet inside the blue line and it sailed a good 5 feet over the net.

Takes some getting used to, enjoy your new stick!

from the pictures of his curve posted, the blade does not seem that open.

when I seem him on the bench I can see the loft is pretty huge.

maybe its just the angle we are looking at ?

Ditto on my Zubov CNT.

did they just sand-blast the blade or is it actually structurally different?

The're actually glass micro-spheres that are added to the final coat to provide that finished slip-resistant texture.

Whats the point of getting repainted SE sticks? To promote the S17? The higher the lie the less angle there is that connects the shaft and blade right?

So you guys go without tape/blade covering?

They still use tape I'm pretty sure.

Oh yes I still definetely tape it. The Z tac makes it more durable but you still need grip on the puck.

That is correct
