Sherwood files for bankruptcy protection

The 5030 Intermediate and PP6087s are both Ukraine-made as well. I haven't seen the 08 stock yet so not sure if they are Canadian or Ukrainian-made.

They are only making the 5030 sr. and 7000 sr. sticks domestically. The 5030 Jr. and Ints have been made off shore for a few years now. I guess, like everything else in life, its cheaper for these companies to get their products manufactured in China than in North America.

I just got off the phone with Sher-Wood to follow up on a Custom SOP order from March. The player has been waiting patiently for his 7000s. The word I got was that someone out of the Toronto area has bought Sher-Wood as of last Friday. Sher-Wood had been holding orders until this news came through. If any one in metro Toronto knows more, please add it here.

When In spoke with them yesterday to track an order, they told me they were sold and the paperwork is being processed, all orders on hold till that's done, estimated about 2 more days.

Ordered a Pro Custom RM19 for a client late may, got the stick in for him 7 business days later. Very surprised and happy. Took ages 7 weeks for a custom wood blade order tho?

Here's the latest I heard a couple of weeks ago from Sherwood:

"Nothing has shipped to the US from Sherwood since May 1st because of problems related to UPS and customs brokerage issues. This situation has not been solved and hopefully the new ownership group can get these issues resolved quickly. There are thousands of orders picked, packed and ready to ship that are on the Sherwood loading dock awaiting the OK to ship.------Nothing we can do about it."

Anyone on the inside have an update?

Sherwood-Drolet Now Under New Ownership and Leadership

SportsOneSource Media Posted: 6/20/2008

Carpe Diem Growth Capital has received court approval to purchase all the business assets relating to the Sher-Wood and SWD branded hockey sticks as

well as all hockey related equipment currently manufactured and or distributed by Sherwood-Drolet Ltd in Sherbrooke, PQ.

"We are elated that we have the opportunity to re-energize the Sher-Wood brand," said Dean Topolinski, Principal, Carpe Diem Growth Capital. "Since

the late 1940's, Sher-Wood sticks have remained the choice for hockey professionals and players that aspire to achieve their best. We are passionate about building on that solid foundation to create a value driven company that meets the needs of our customers, employees, suppliers and

other business partners worldwide."

The company has been renamed Sher-Wood Hockey Inc. The company also has appointed Mr. Ralph Trott, as president and CEO of Sher-Wood Hockey Inc.

"His extensive background as a senior executive in retailing and distribution is well recognized. He provides strong leadership to spearhead the rapid development and implementation of the company's go-forward business strategy," added Topolinski.

Sher-Wood Hockey Inc. now has the financial strength to rapidly see its SWD and Sher-Wood marketing efforts gain traction in the marketplace.

Founded in 1949, Sherwood-Drolet sought protection from creditors in May 2008. In addition to hockey sticks, the company distributed protective gear

including pads, gloves, blockers and pants for hockey players and goalies. Carpe Diem Growth Capital is a Greater Toronto Area based privately held

investment company.

I give up. Still no stick after two months. Is it Sherwood....or 24hrhockey.com whom I ordered it from???

I guess I'll just get an RM9 instead from another online retailer, and hope it works out for me....

While these posts were appearing here, I was talking to Sher-Wood about me distributing for them in Ukraine. We signed a contract a few weeks ago.

As for the thread, here is what I got today from Sher-Wood:

Hi Vlad,

We've been bought by a company from Toronto. Nothing has changed as for orders or delivery time. Everything should be on time for the most part. When I say most part it means that the wood custom sticks and blades are a bit behind that's it. So don't worry all shipping and production is going just fine. You can send me your orders whenever your ready if you haven't done so. If you need anything, just let me know. I'll be in the office tomorrow.

Best Regards

Thanks
