Larger Heatley?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering what curve is similar to the Heatley but not so small in every sense. I am looking for a longer and possibly taller blade. I like the curve and definitely want to stay with a 5 lie (I tear the heels up of anything higher). I checked the pattern DB, but nothing jumps out. I also searched, but couldn't find anything except comparisons between Ignlia and Heatley. Thanks for any help

Weight's a fun curve but it's different...it's like a less open Drury that closes up and kinks a bit near the toe. The Heatley always seemed like a 5 lie Iginla that was curved a bit more towards the toe to me...

Another option is the P88; it's closer to a 6 lie but has a rockered heel so that MIGHT help.

Good call on the Recchi, that's very similar, a big mid that curves a bit more towards the toe and has a semi-square toe. 5.25 lie.

P88 without a doubt. The Heatley is unique in the sense that it is the only square-toed short mid out at retail really. Recchi would be a good option as well. DO NOT consider the Smyth, its a lower lie, has a different profile, and is about 4 times bigger curve-wise.

Cavs pretty much sums it up. I am set in my ways and simply cannot use anything but a Heatley or a Recchi. I can switch between the 2 fairly easy. Preference-wise, the Heatley edges out the Recchi but just a tad, but that is due to my stone hand stick-handling and shooting.

Cavs, isn't the Mission Hossa similar to the Recchi? I've only seen pics on the net. No LHS access in my part of the world. Thanks.

Thanks! So I'm stuck with my Heatley then.

Some of the Toy Drive sticks Easton sent out were true Pro Stock-not sure about Heatleys but my Sakic is a little longer/higher than retail stock. Those S17's are only id'd on bar code, said Sakic NHL 100....no players name/flex on shaft in case something comes up in sell forum here.

I'm finding the flex to actually be 100 on my S17, friends retail I tried felt about an 85 flex although marked 100.

I was searching the archives here and seem to get some conflicting advice. I was leaning towards the Recchi, seems similar to the Heatley but larger, but some postings claim that it is actually a 5.5 or even a 6 lie. I know this is too steep for me, I really want to stick with a 5. Any updated thoughts on this?

I have a wooden Recchi and it has the same lie as a composite heatley. I mention that it's composite because I also have some wooden heatleys that say lie 5 on them but are actually 5.5s. I don't know if this is a mistake on Easton's part or what.

I've got some CCM Recchi's and they are no higher than a 5 lie. Same lie when I compare it to Easton Forsberg/Modano.

Yes, Recchi is similar to a Heatley but with a bit more curve and longer blade. The Forsberg is a mid-heel curve.

The Afinogenov is similar to a P88 and somewhat to a Heatly. I use a Heatly wood blade with my RBK 7k sickick shaft. I really was surprised at how well I took to it. I use an el cheapo TPS Response2 (Blue) OPS with the Afinogenov pattern and I really like it as well. I dont like a big blade, but a smaller blade with a mid curve..Just my style I guess..
