Naslund curve

Recommended Posts

I was in the store today trying out the Vapor XXXX stick. Everybody is talking about how balanced it was so I held one, it was a Naslund curve, and it felt blade heavy just like any other stick. Then I held one in a Malkin curve, and another in a Lindros, and it indeed was incredibly balanced.

I guess us Naslund users will always be screwed over? I didn't try out any other sticks while in the store but I'm assuming the clones will be like that too because of the blade length.

never noticed this. I feel the my ONE90 in a P92 seemed more balanced than a P88 XXXX.

Different shafts will produce a different balance point.

Not sure if this is the answer but it may be due to the fact the ONE90 flexes in the middle of the shaft and the XXXX has a lower kickpoint.

I don't think kickpoints have anything to do with the balance of the stick. There are so many factors to consider like the blade length (p92 is longer than a pm9), tape jobs, the size of the butt end, whether or not the person tapes his entire blade or just tapes a small portion and lots more.

Well, a simple analysis would be that the P92 blade has more surface area and overall volume than say a PM9, so the blade is heavier. This will change the balance of any stick. However, it is not good to compare apples to oranges though and say that a One90 PM9 is better balanced than a XXXX P92. Too many variables.

On a side note, I find that the XXXX is a touch blade heavy. The XXX lite was better balanced IMO. I think it is because the taper area on the XXXX is a little more thickly built for durability reasons. The S17 IMO is the best balanced stick to date, but I do prefer sticks that some may consider to be blade light.

i think if those couple of grams of difference in the balance in a stick really matter to you then you are paying attention to the wrong aspect of a stick.

I disagree, balance is very important. Overall weight doesn't matter but balance is important.

I think both matter. I would hate to use a stick that is 500g+ and I would also hate to use a stick that is 410g, but totally out of balance. I think the ideal stick is one that is well balanced and weighs somewhere between 410g and 440g.

I agree with Chadd. With a balanced stick, even a 500g stick can feel like it's 100g lighter.

I do think that balance is far more important than actual weight, but I still like sticks that are light.

I was at Hockey Life in Toronto, and i was checking out basically every stick in the store. I picked up a P106, Vapor XXXX OPS, and a P88 Lindros, and the difference in weight was incredibly noticeable, I switched them hands to see if it would make a difference and it didn't haha. I was chatting with the guy from the store and he also couldn't believe this, the heavier ones were mostly the PM9's and the P88. The lightest ones were the P91A and the P106. I don't know if anyone else noticed this but i was stunned, and this was only with the XXXX stick not the One90.

Like the Warrior Syko, it doesn't feel like a 500g+ stick at all.
