I just hope the Leafs don't go off the board. One of Boedeker, Filatov, Hodgson or Wilson would be great. Schenn intrigues me, but I really think we need front end elite talent (which is why I want Boedeker and especially Filatov). If the Leafs can get a second first round pick I'd love to see them take a chance on Beach.

In the Ottawa sun this morning (local news paper) one of the reporters said that Pittsburg offered malkin for Cammalerri and LA's Pick, the GM accepted but after running it by ownership they wanted to keep building with younger guys. (which malkin is but i guess they mean rookie contract young).

New rumour on TSN....adding to the rumour of Montreal having moved their 1st rounder (25th)...Could be to Calgary for Tanguay.

[EDIT] TSN is now calling it finalized, but not confirmed...whatever that means.

RJ Umberger and pick to Columbus for the 19th overall pick and another one later on in the draft.

Conversations with numerous parties independent of the Penguins and Malkin's camp indicate there is virtually no chance of a trade. The Penguins can sign Malkin to a contract extension on July 1, and it is widely believed the sides will agree on a long-term deal not long after that date. Shero and Barry are expected to meet this weekend at the draft.

I agree, I think the coverage has been good. If the worst part of it is Pierre McGuire, then they've done well in my book.

Maybe the monitor is not good...now that you mention it Gord is pretty loud too. Pierre is doing the in-your-face "BAM" (John Madden) style commentary...Gord and Mac and just louder than they need to be.

I just got back to the Hotel. It was interesting draft that was for sure. When Cliff Fletcher was shown on the big screen, he was booed crazy, he looked up and snarled, looked down and the camera guy did it again. Got an interesting I will post later. Glad the Rangers drafted Del Zotto though. Tanguy to Montreal was also a good deal!

This years draft had 13 trades. The same amount as the four previous drafts combined. 13 is alot of trades.. especially coming from the 2005 draft where they had 0.
