CCM U+ vs Vapor XXXX sizing

Recommended Posts

I used to wear tacks growing up but haven't worn a pair of CCM skates in years. I'm currently in 8.5 D Vapor XXXXs, but was thinking about getting a pair of U+ to try out. People seem to have good things to say about them, and I'd like to see what they're like. For those experienced with both skates, is the length/fit of the skates similar at all ie. 8.5 XXXX= 8.5 U+. It seems like the Bauer/CCM sizing difference no longer exists but I thought I would check. Thanks guys.

I went into a national sports and tried on a 10.0 Vector SE, and Vapor XXXX and I was 8.5 in both. They both fit great too.

I tried on Vapor XXV (didn't have XXXX), One95's and U+ in 11.5D. Lengthwise they were perfect, but it felt like there was nothing to the heel of the U+ (I also had 5K pumps with the same feeling). Whereas the One95 and XXV just seemed to suck my foot right in. If the U+ was baked, could I have experienced the heel lock that seemed to be missing?

The XXV and the One95 felt the same except when it came time to lace em up. The One95 wrapped around my foot like a glove. The same cannot be said about the Vapor's.

I still prefer the Vapor fit over the Supremes. The U+ fit is also awesome even before their baked. Never felt anything quite like the way the foam moulds right to your feet when I tryed a pair on a few days back. Still very wary about the durability aspect of these skates however. Guess only time will tell how they'll work out for the guys who buy them.

There is a major difference in fit. I tried on all: the vapor xxxx, one95 and the U+. Out of the 3 the U+ has the most volume. I take a 6 D in the 40's and one95's and I had to go down to a 6 C in the U+, I even heated them so they mold and they were still kinda loose. The U+ has a lot a volume in the ankle, you can simply tell by the lace pattern and there isn't much you can do about that if it doesn't fit. But if they fit right I can see how they can be a really comfy skates.

XXV's ( I believe simliar fit to XXXX's ) is more narrow in toebox than One95's, and the One95 has more of a narrow ankle area - but they really break in nice, and fit nice and comfy...I had 11.5 D in both.....I measured the length last night with a caliper and from heal to toe ( inside ) is 11 6/16" and the XXV's were 11 7/16" - so very similar in length.....I believe XXV''s had more of a forward pitch to them, and One95 I feel more netrual.
