Easton s15 skate fit

Recommended Posts

I just got a pair and they fit great except as most people talk about, the width is wider than normal. I really need to pull the laces tight to get the boot to wrap around my forefoot better. It really is tough to do. I haven't baked these yet but was wondering if baking would help with this matter. I haven't baked because everything else fits fine without baking.

I just got a new pair and didnt need to have them baked.

After 3 hours of skating they became as comfy as my 1 yr old skates!

Why did you buy them if they didnt fit you right? For the price I'm sure you could have found a great fitting skate. BTW; I have and love my S15's.

I got 7.5D's. I got them because they do fit great everywhere else perfectly and I don't think you can get them narrower. I can get it to work by tightening but it's just really hard to do right now.

I would avoid baking them. Break them in old-school, wear them around the house. I got 7D's and I love them. I dyed the holders black. I wore them in the house watching TV and after a couple days of that, the forefoot wrapped better.

Thanks WhiskeyTango. That's what I was wondering. Whether or not it will get better eventually without baking. I agree, these are great skates.

They're great skates, but everyone is afraid to bake them because of glue issues?

They do have glue issues, and no one is sure, but baking might make the glue issue worse. Not sure about the improved, double stitched version. But, since the fit of these skates benefit so little from baking, why do it?

I skated with them before baking, and they were great. I baked them and felt zero difference.

When I get my 2nd generation replacement pair, I will not be baking them.

I dont bake mine cause glue is the main issue for problems with this skate. Just heat up some areas with a heatgun if its really neccessary.

I got mine directly from our Easton rep. He is the one who told me not to bake them, and they are the 2nd generation model.

I think I'll take his word for it.

My S15's are great. The only prblem is they are starting to fall apart. They are only 6 months old. How do I get a replacement pair?? Do I go online direct to easton or back to my LHS?? Thanks

I still rock in my 1300C's in pickup occassionaly. ( Just bought Grafs and they are now my main skate for serious hockey) Had them for three years now. Love the fit and wider toe area and yes, I understand when you talk about having to tighten the laces more than on other conventional skates. That has never really bothered me simply because there is no lace bite when I tie them. But yes, I noticed the fact they needed to be tied tighter than my other skates. But no volume problems at all, they fit close to my feet with no pain. I never baked mine because my model couldn't be baked so no glue issues as well. Maybe I was lucky. Haven't had any real issues with these but I've heard of stories with the 1500's regarding glue. A lot of guys having to reglue the areas where the leather parts meet the composite area. Apparantly you can use Gorilla Glue to restick the area back and that should work for you. If I where you however I wouldn't bake the skates because if their loose, baking won't help the fit and you might end up with the glue issues here as well.

Only issue I had is I could not lace up the top eyelet or get severe ankle bite. I switched back to the 1500's, got a brand new pair from Hockey Monkey for $300. My 8R S15's are on Ebay right now if anybody is interested in getting them for cheap.

I am looking for a used pair of s15's 8.5R as a back up pair for the 2nd generation s15's I am getting (I am returning my 1st gen to Easton under warranty). My question is this: I know the s-11, s-7, and s-3 are made with different materials, but is the fit exactly the same in all boots? If I order a pair of s-7 in 8.5R, will it be the same fit as the s15 8.5R?

Thanks!

s15 and s11 are the same fit, the s7 and the unibody construction boots are still narrow in the heel, but are considerably narrower in the forefoot than the s15 and s11

for all those worried about glue issues...

i would recommend a silicone spray for the boot, this will help with moisture management and to protect from water getting underneath the synthetic material and pushing it off the carbon boot

how do I tell the differance between the 1st and second generation s-15's.

Not really changes in generations as much as they're soft/running changes. So besides the change in piping/binding around the tongue, I've been told to examine the small triangular windows for "foggier" silver than the rest of the upper. They changed glue and used 'grabbier' overlays that lack luster, because the shiny unibody was too smooth. And they extended below the 'Easton' to increase gluing surface, so that straight line now has a kink in it. I forget which was which, but you can tell them apart by their lighter/darker linings and tongues. I may recall the new tongue being almost black, so maybe the newer is darker.

I tried to illustrate:
