I ask again, whats the fit on these? I wear a size 7 in ccm. 7.5 in bauer vapors, 7.5 in eastons, 7 1/4's in one95s . Thanks.

They're generally 1 size up from CCMs and the One95s so I'd guess you're an 8.

Oh ok, thanks, does that go for the gear Carbons as well? The carbons are what I was looking at since they are pretty plain and are only $99

Yes that is right.

I ordered these last week. Sent them back this week.

The boot was so loose baking did nothing. I wear an 8 mission 7.5 easton and 7 in CCM.

Eastons and CCM tacks fit me best as to width etc. The Gear has such a sloppy feel to the boot. Its just so loose. The length was fine, but there is just too much space around the foot that cant be tightened up. Sorry I am no expert, but I really would pass on this version. I could flex the upper portion of the boot together with one hand. So while the base of the boot is the same, the rest is made cheaper then other Kors and it shows.

Sorry for the weak review but I am far from an expert so this is a noobs impression.

I've never worn the Carbons, but according to others they fit like the Shift 2s. The Shift 2s are the same length as the Shift 1's, but are wider and deeper. So I believe you'll be an 8 in any of the KOR skates, but if your foot is shallow and narrow the Carbons or Shift 2's may not work for you (as they didn't for the poster above).

FYI - the Shift 2's are down to $199 and if you use the skate code, skates1105, today you can get them for $159. That code expires today though. They may eventually go down to $99, but by then the more common sizes (like 8) may be gone. The Shift 2's and Carbons would be similar, but the upper materials are likely better with the Shift 2's (based on what I've read here including the post above).

From actual experience, is the shift2 more durable than the shift1? I really like my shift1 protection, but took a shot that has cracked the plastic boot. I'm curious if the made in mexico are better than the made in china from this perspective.

Checked price of Shift 2s' 199.99 and called to order a pair five minutes ago (I have a store credit from Shift 1s' that had the Tuuk blade). I'm talking to the guy and he said he showed them at $449.99. I said no way and pulled it up and in the time it took me to dial and talk to him the price had gone up $200.

Just my luck, they're supposed to call me back.

Will post results.

I just got a pair of these...seem decent for $70...

the key for pitch 3 holders comes in a sealed bag with two smallish (like 1 inch by 2 inches) foam inserts.

Any idea what these are for? They're maybe like 1/8" thick.

Thanks,

Oh, and for reference, I skate in 7.5 Nike Flexlites and ordered the Gear Carbons in 8.5. Lengthwise, the

fit seems similar...and it's the only other skate that the top of my freakishly high arches actually comfortably fit in...the bone on the top middle of my foot usually comes above the eyelets in "normal" skates...pretty good for blindly ordering them over the internet.

Those pads work well for bumping out spots when baking the skates.

Are the roughly more triangular than round and blue in color?

If so, they're to help in the baking process for those that need a bit of extra room in specific places (I want to say in the arches?).

From the instructions:

Identifying the foot

There are a few critical areas of the foot to be aware of:

Metatarsal heads (balls of feet)

Novicular (Arch)

Medial/lateral malioli (Ankle bones)

Metatarsal heads

The Metatarsal heads vary the most on people’s feet. That is why there are varying widths with in the same size range from AA to EEE. The KOR skate is uniquely designed with the advantage of being adjustable through thermo forming to allow the skate to expand or contract exactly to the customer’s foot.

Novicular

The Novicular is the arch are of the foot. This area comes in three basic shapes

High arch foot

Medium arch foot

Low arch foot

The KOR skate is designed to fit a medium arch type. If the customer has a high arch, then the arch cookie fitting aide can be used to accommodate the void in the boot.

If the customer has a low arch foot, then precautions need to be taken to ensure proper thermo forming. This is an area where the athlete most probably has had pressure points in the past with other hockey boots. To prevent any pressure points during thermo forming it is important to tape a round foam puck over the novicular area on the foot. This will bump the base out far enough to avoid contact with the novicular area.

Ah. Thank you. Yes they are triangular-ish. Pointed on one end, rounded on the other. They're not blue, more like grey, but they must be for the same thing.

I got no manual/instructions/documentation with the Gear smus. I guess I had to pay for that... :)

Thanks again,

Hockeyoverstock.com ships to Canadia for $15. Dunno what the rates for Hockeygiant are. I don't see why they wouldn't ship these to you. I don't know how customs works...you might wanna check with fedex first to make sure they won't say that they needed an extra $100 to get it through customs...

Excellent find. The only thing is I'm kind of hesitant due to ahbroody's comments.

I finally got to skate in my Gear carbons. Coming from Shift 1's, the Gear carbon's fit the same. The toe box is slightly angled at the roof, from a side view. Performance-wise, the Gear carbons are really good. But two things stick out for me: 1. The tongue is angled rather than curved/molded (even after baking) so break in of the tongue will take longer. 2. The durability of the materials used is questionable. My boot liner is already ripped up in spots and I have a chunk missing from the outside of the skate (the bumpy material). I guess for $70, these are pretty good, but for the long-term I'll have to see how they hold up.
