Glove Question

Recommended Posts

I am considering getting some new gloves, and I have seen the new Easton SE-16, and I like the 4-roll look. I have also seen the pro-stock Eastons as well, and they seem relatively similar. I know the sE-16's are new. Does any one have any experience with these gloves? Pro's and cons? I have 15" pro-stock CCM's, and they may be a bit too big (I am 6-0" and about 110lbs, and I dont have very large hands.) Should I get 14" in general, and are 14" in in Easton bigger or smaller than CCM?

Thanks!

I tried them on along with Eagles (x70, x72), Warrior (the franchise), Nike Bauer 4-Rolls, pretty much every glove on the market that the hockey store i was at had. The SE-16s felt very stiff and bulky, and at least for me were not very comfortable. I also didn't think they looked that good compared to other gloves. I ended up getting Eagle x72s and i love them. They are way on the pricey side though, and the other glove i was strongly considering was the Nike Bauer 4-roll. They were super comfy, and pretty much the greatest glove for the price ($99). I have no personal experience with the Easton Pro 4-roll glove, but i have heard nothing but good things. In short i would go with Eagles, Nike Bauer 4-rolls (be careful with sizing, i have read a lot of members on here had to go down a size), or the Easton Pro 4-roll (i think i might have seen a couple pairs in the sell section, just a heads up).

Cheeshead;

Thanks for the reply.

Gotta love the Eddie Avatar as well.

I tried on the Bauer 4 roll....true...very comfy....and I will keep them on the short list...if I can find them in the color scheme i like....dont want the stock black....not grooving on em.

I am looking at some Easton pro 4 roll. Anyone have experience in these? I have 15" leather CCM pro stocks and they just seem to bulky, heavy, and my hands sweat like im at a russian bathhouse.

are the Easton pro 4 rolls lighter, and do they run big and loose like the CCM abd Bauer 4-roll?

Thanks so much!

Try the Sherwood Pro glove if you can find them at a local hockey shop. About the same as Bauer four rolls but because their last years model you'll probably find them on sale in a lot of LHS's. Same type of fit as the Nike/Bauer four rolls and a great bang for your buck. Reinforced with poly liners in the fingers and back of the hand and a really nice palm. Not as light as Eagles but a great quality glove for the money.

Speaking of Sherwood, what is going on with their Pro and ProLite gloves now that they have been sold. I've been having trouble finding the pros and prolites anywhere for some time. I tried on the pros about a year ago, but didn't need gloves. Now I do and can't find them.

Well I'll go ahead and defend the easton se16. I found them to be really comfy with good palms and a feature that I really liked was how the palm on the index finger wrapped almost up to the finger pad on the inside seam, anyone who's ever poked a hole through their gusset will appreciate that. As for fit I found that it was much more snug than most other 4-rolls so if you like snug gloves but want a 4-roll look I'd suggest these.

Are all these the same gloves? What is the consensus on these gloves. I like the looks better than the Bauer 4 roll.

If not, what is the difference. Is the cyclone taylor price good? Are these basically synergys, and are they a looser fit?

Thanks!

Anyone have any info on if these really are pro gloves?

I like both the cyclonetaylor black ones, but my hockey team uses the old 90's Bules uniform, so a little red on the ebay ones wouldnt hurt :)

Id like to pull the trigger on some pro Eastons, but I am also considering the X-6's at EW

Anyone have opinions or consensus on these two gloves?

Both are the same price, and look very much the same......which is the better glove?

BTW, I already checked my LHS....only Bauer 4 rolls.

Well then it looks like REAL pro stocks might be out of my price range. Are the gloves shown above good gloves for that price?

Any opinions on them, or opinions on which one is better?

Here are the Eastons from CT

Here are the other Eastons from Ebay....are these not pro stock either???? Pretty crappy for all these guys to put "pro stock" when they arent.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...A:IT&ih=019

here is another "pro" glove from CT. How can we tell if it is a pro glove or not?

http://www.cyclonetaylor.com/players/glove...roreturnsr.html

Here are TPS "PRO" gloves.

http://www.hockeygiant.com/tpsr8plglvsr.html

OK....bottom line it for me.....none of these are pro stock, right?

Damn....the claims on the description of all these gloves is SO misleading.

WHICH OF THESE GLOVES IS THE BEST????????

Glove 1 and 2 are Eastons - a retail customer can order it, minimum 6. Canadian-made glove, made alongside pro issued gloves. Glove #2 is not a Blackhawks pro return glove.

Glove 3 is pro stock. RBK doesn't offer that glove to customers.

Glove 4 is not a pro issue glove, like NBH 4-Roll. A pro could (and does) choose it off the rack though.

All four gloves are excellent.

Too many of you guys get caught up in this "pro stock" thing.

We just think that the "pro stock" label means a better, or at least more durable product.

If I can get the TPS new $60 shipped, that is a good deal right?

Do you think it is a better deal than the others at $105 to $115 shipped?

I know they are all good gloves, but does one stand out above the others?

My LHS doesnt have TPS so I dont know much about it. Im a C level adult leaguer, defenseman, 6'0" and 210lbs.

With the very limited knowlege, is the TPS 15" a good glove for me?

And sorry about all the questions and general ignorance about gloves.

I have the CCM "pro stock" and they feel just like the 852's in the store....and my hands sweat like crazy

For some reason I am drawn to the Eastons, maybe I like them aesthetically the best, or its because I see SO many pros use them.

But the TPS's seem to have good reviews, and I can get them from someone I know, new, for $60 shipped.

I just dont know much about them. Can anyone give me a comparison to the CCM "pro stocks"....mine are leather and 15" as well.

Thanks!

I got the TPS Pro R8's today in the mail. First impressions were good. I like the plain black look.

I also like the nylon, as my other gloves (CCM Prostock) are leather. They seem lighter and more manuverable....perhaps as they are 14' compared to my CCM 15"

I think 14" is the right size glove for me. When holding the stick, I feel like the grip has more "feel" to it, and my wrists have more motion. They are also a tighter feel inside, which is good as my CCM's have actually flown off in collisions twice.

I think I will like these gloves, and at $60 shipped, they are well worth it.

I will post a review after a few weeks of use.
