Easton s17 helmet

Recommended Posts

We just got the new Easton Helmet in and we started inspecting them and were just curious about the padding. If my memory serves me correctly the padding felt alot softer when they showed the sample to us. The padding in the ones that arrived feels terrible. Any thoughts????

They haven't arrived at my LHS's here in Canada yet ( specifically the North West GTA) but I'm itching to try one on. I've been asking for about a month now but the guy at the counter said their on order and will probably get here in August or the beginning of the hockey season. Heard a few good things and a few bad things about the S-17 and S-9 helmet. I guess I'll just have to wait to judge for myself.

Well today turned out to be a good day at the office, the man in the big brown truck paid me a visit bearing gifts. I finally got my S-17 helmet. Here are a few observations without actually using it in game conditions as of yet. First I agree with Iceman, I'm a little disappointed with the padding, it is kind of thin and not too comfy. Second, I was a little concerned when I ordered it the size said it went up to 7 5/8 (L) which would or should have been ok, but I like my helmets a little loose. Well, the box says 7 3/4 and it is every bit of it. I was pleased with the depth of the helmet, the front is a finger width from my eye brows and the back could have actually been cut a little shorter IMO. I'm impressed with the look of it, it doesn't look big and bulky. I took a hair dryer and blew some air near the vents and it seems to go thru the helmet nicely. Will be adding the Easton cage for playing, not sure what visor I'll use for reffing. I'll put some comments on after I use it in a game, but so far I'm pretty pleased with the way it fits. One last comment, the styrofoam head was a really crazy touch, mine even had eyes and nostrils colored in. Think I'll set it up by the door for when the wife gets home from work tonight, should go over like a wet fart in church.

I like your style rtwng20. I'll look forward to your update when you wear it in a game.

I would agree. The padding does seem to be a little harder than the one they had for a sample. That being said, it is still a very comfortable helmet. I would probably say it's the second or third most comfortable helmet we have in the store right now.

i tried one on at peranis summer sale and was not impressed. the foam was hard and uncorfortable. and the price was out of my budget. though it looks nice. i think i'll stick with my 4000 for now.

yeah totally, not a great feeling helmet for my dome.

was totally surprised that they didn't beef up the foam and all i felt was the hard black foam crushing my skull.
