Edge Jerseys: Real Vs. Fake

Recommended Posts

what is the difference between replica and authentic when it comes to jersey's? Not fake ones from china, but legit replicas vs. authentics..

To the best of my understanding:

A Replica jersey (EDGE) has a jock tag on the front...an RBK Vector on the sleeve and no fight strap. The shoulder/secondary patches on the replicas are printed on twill. I've seen Replica with mutli layer stitched twill and the sublimated twill.

An Authentic jersey does not have the jock tag or log on the sleeve and does have a fight strap. It may or may not (depending if you bought a retail authentic or had a team issued authentic) be made of the waterwicking material, or have air knit panels.

Someone more in the know, please add/revise those descriptions as you see fit.

As long as you know you are buying a "knockoff" and not an Official RBK jersey I don't see the problem...some of them (That Zetterberg for example) don't look right...but I've seen some that other than the shinny material for the letters/numbers they look so close that beyond the 6000 people here and the people at the NHL or Reebok...who's going to know the difference.

I've got a couple NFL jersey that I'm sure are knockoffs...but I doubt I'll ever be standing next to Chad Johnson...so I don't think anyone (other than a DIEHARD) will be able to tell the difference.

Malkin (Winter Classic that had a Game Worm tag...like a Meigray on the inside of the lower hem...he wants $119 for it )

if the triangle behind the penguin was gold instead of yellow then it is DEFINITELY a fake. I got one off of Ebay knowing it was a fake but for $50 I didn't care. it came complete with fight strap and Meigray "game worn" tag and everything on the jersey was well put together.

Just adding on to RadioGaGa's post. The Premier (Replica) jersey also has two slits on the side of the jersey. I don't know what for but it doesn't make the jersey look any better. It's made of very thin Polyester and it feels like you're wearing a paper bag when you put it on. The jerseys also run larger than previous Air Knit jerseys. So if you wear a Medium in Air Knit, a Small in the Premier will fit you.

The front crest on all Premier jerseys are glued on, sewn on Authentic ones.

Premier jerseys are made in Indonesia. Authentics are made in Canada.

And so is the zetterberg, it has shiny numbers.

My oveckin jersey came today, and i must say, if you guys didnt tell me it was fake, I would have thought it was real. The only real shiny part is a little red behind the caps logo. JR, it did not have the NHL hologram, which is the biggest tip off, however the RBK vector is completley sewn on, not just the outline. Im still calling this a good deal. Its the most legit looking knock off i have seen, and its a pretty lite jersey (nice material). Call me what you want for supporting knock offs, but i dont think im the only one who can find their wallet faster than their ethics.

Alright, i have another potential phony on my hands, you guys are gonna have to help me on this one. This one gives me a little more hope, but im still thinking this its a bust. I know...I keep putting my self in these situations. But if you think you can help me determine if it is fake or real please post, and do so in a timely manor (i have work at 7). Thanks a ton.

Further more he seems like a genuine guy unlike the last guy, and has gone out of his way to get me pictures, and such. Im still sketched out though.

I like to think I just use common sense when I look at eBay auctions for jerseys and stuff-

1. Price...usually if it's a newer design and the price doesn't come close to what they go for online or in-store, something's dodgy. The Premier jersey's what, like, $99.00 retail? If it's only 50-60 bucks, chances are it's not real.

2. The item descriptions all seem to have the same grammatical errors or weird Engrish syntax, like "MAN UTD SCHOLES JERSEY SHIRT NIKE S/M/L/XL". If the item descriptions are in all caps or it looks like English might be a 2nd language, probably something off about the jersey, too.

If you know what you're getting is indeed fake and you're OK with that, then fair play to you. But the old saying goes, "if it looks too good to be true, it probably is."

www.dhgate.com will answer all your questions :)

Sellers just buy them off of sites like this and re-sell them on Ebay for triple what they paid for...

Still, i mean for 40$, I don't care if my RBK jersey is realy or fake (not that i have one anyway).

not everything is fake on there but probably 80% hehe.

I got myself a couple of affliction shirts and they look exactly like the real deal...whether they were or not I have no clue.
