Tackla 5000 Pro vs. Tackla 9000 ACS

Recommended Posts

TBL covered the 5000 Pro's advantages really well. I've had two (recent pairs) of Thai 5000x's and stitching was falling out all over the place. My 5000 Pros are sewn much better, and the interior padding is more contoured. The shell is a slightly lower weight denier, but overall, I found the quality to be the best of any pro pant I've seen- and I have been seeing a lot lately.

I have the Tackla 5000 Pro and they are the best pant I've ever worn for resistant free movement and decent protection. From what I've been told the 9000 is top of the line for Tacklas and they offer even better protection with the same manoeverability as the 5000. And on top of all that they are substantially lighter than Reebok or Easton top of the line models which in my opinion are two of the best protective pant lines on the market. Don't get me wrong I'm not dissing North American made pants. I just prefer the cut and fit of a European made pant. I don't think anything can beat the North American made pant for all out protection.

BS on 9000 being the top-end pant. Just because it's the top number doesn't mean it's the top pant. The fact that the 5000 Pro costs more than the 9000 should tell you where it stands. And Duch - the pant's made in Canada, not Europe.

Sorry J.R. I should have rephrased that comment. I meant to say I prefer the fit of a pant with the European style cut to it, not European made. I just find I have better mobility in Tacklas than in some other top popular makes of pants. And I haven't found a pair of Tacklas I don't like yet.

I can't speak about the 9000 but I do have the 5000 pro and I hate to say I am very dissappointed with the quality. Don't get me wrong I like the fit but I have had them less than a year and the shell is showing significant wear and the stitching is already started to fail is multiple areas and i only play a couple times a week. I never had this problem with my old CCMs that I skated in for almost 8 years. So the moral to my story is if you are looking to get Tackla's I would advise against it because you're going to be shelling out a lot of money for something that will fall apart in less than a season.

Man that is interesting. My 5000 Pros are tough as nails and holding up really well after years of use multiple times per week. I wonder if you just got a "lemon".

Who makes Eastons Pro pants for them? I'm not going to even ask where I can get them. Nor should anyone else other than maybe Ebay or end of year team sale.

Mine are from Thialand and are holding up really good. I think that alot of it is based on simple care of your stuff. No different than your skates, gloves, etc........
