CCM and RBK helmet recall

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the info. RBK/CCM was late with delivery so we never received any of their helmets. All the new helmets were a bit late. Easton helmets are still incognito.

Believe it or not, the only problem was with the plastic snaps. They changed snap manufacturers and the new ones could shatter so they recalled. I found it odd that they just didn't send the dealers the new snaps to put on themselves instead of returning them, but I guess it was a legality issue. I only had 7 helmets that were effected, all 08 models. I've already sent them back and got them back repaired.

It's only certain colors since they probably ran them in that order before discovering the snap defect.

End dealer repair is not an option- legal issues since I don't think any LHS are licensed THC repair facilities.

Just checked my V10- Oct 2012, I'm good.

Why do you refer to them as THC? That name is long dead.

Are CCM and Reebok still under one umbrella? I guess I'm not very in the loop. Are hey autonomous or under a different parent company now?

Sorry, so only the helmets sold in that period are in the recall???

Only helmets with that specific expiration date.

Hmm the link doesn't seem to be working for me. But after some googling I found this on another board for those who are also wondering:

The chin strap of the recalled helmets may disengage while being used by consumers. If the chin strap disengages, the helmet can fall off, posing a potential safety risk to neck and head injuries.

Although the recalled helmets carry HECC and CSA certification stickers, the product affected by this recall no longer meet these certification standards.

Health Canada has not received reports of incidents or incidents to Canadians related to the use of these helmets.

Corrective Action

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled helmets.

Consumers may return the helmets to the store of purchase for a replacement.

For additional information, consumers may contact the firm's Customer Service Department at 1-800-636-5895 if they are located in Canada, or 1-800-451-4600 if they are located in the U.S.A.

Number Sold

Approximately 4, 200 of the recalled helmets were sold in North America.
