Hockey Blade's "Lie"

Recommended Posts

Ok I have an easton Synthesis senior LH Modano Curve (Lie 5) and it seems to suit me well. However, when i was cruising the net i happened upon this site: http://www.bbsticks.com/. It talks about lie and how many mainframe stick makers (Easton) have started making "Universal Lie" to reduce the neccessary amount of variations of their sticks. Click on the lie detector link and see what i mean. Im curious, is what they're saying true? does that mean that i should consider custom blades from them, so i get the correct lie for me? or is this just hocous-pocus? Thanks

looks great to me i think im gonna order one since about everyone in my family gets custom blades. kind of a neat idea i never thought of somethin like that i always thought you basically just guessed till you found somethin that seemed to work

The reason why most companies do rockered bottoms is to allow the player to adjust in certain situations. There is a lie on those sticks, however.

My opinion of their little page is that they should just state what they do - flat-bottom blades. No need to slam everyone else and say things like "No pro player would dare trust their game to an "off-the-rack" blade."

IMO lie is more important than the actual curve. If i have a curve that is perfect for me, but the lie is off, its completely worthless.

Its the complete opposite for me. I can adjust to lies if they're marginally close to each other. Hell, all my sticks aren't even the same length.

same with me, I need a lie 5.5 ande below, and its perfect for me, especialy with how short of a stick I use. Even with my 5.5 sakic, the toe of my blade isnt always fully on the ice, but its what works for me. I find you can use any lie, but it depends on how short you cut your stick, and the angle of your blade will adjust.

Man I had some Mission Ether composite pro stock blades from the thrashers and they had something like a 4 lie. They were so great, they really fit my style of play. I play with a retail Modano regularly, 5 lie and it works well for me.
