Vapor XXXX Stick....

Recommended Posts

i've done a search on the Vapor XXXX OPS in the forums and have yet to find much in regards to reaction, and only see the 1 review posted.....so i was hoping some people could help out with some feedback....

i'm a Vapor XXX guy, but i know that my time is running short on how long i will be able to keep buying the XXX's since they're no longer being made.....

so i was wondering, for those of you who own/use the Vapor XXXX what your impressions of this stick are?....how does it compare to the XXX (if you've used both)? do you prefer either of the 2? is one better than the other for some reasons?....

i've read that the XXXX is a bit heavier than the XXX.....

just wondering what the overall impression is on this stick....

thanks!

from my experience, i liked the xxx a lot better. It was lighter, better balance, and the blade had a better feel to it. however, the durability of the xxx was not very good. I went through about three of them, and previously had only broken just one 1-piece before that. The forty is pretty durable, and i havn't broken mine yet. I prefer the xxx still because im all about performance.

I prefer the XXX, from my use I don't feel the 40 has much of a kick to it. I may be totally off, but to me a stick that feels like the XXX is the U+.

xxxx is a tank, unfortunately sort of weighs like one as well.............it is a great stick just dont pick up a tps R8, one90 or S17

i've picked up a One90 and a Vapor XXXX simultaneously at an LHS and the difference was not that noticeable.....also used a One90 (not for long at all), and just did not like the feel of the stick on my wrister....did not take me long AT ALL to know that stick was NOT for me....

thanks for all the input guys.....keep 'em coming ;)

I had a XXX until it was stolen recently. As the previous replies have said it had a better feel and release to it than my two XXXX sticks; butthe difference isn't that big and the XXXX looks to be lasting a lot better.

The XXXX was probably the worst feeling "top level" stick that I have used in a long time. Was not impressed at all with puck feel, or the shot coming off of it. Couldn't tell you about durability as I sold it within about 2 weeks of getting it.

Wanna talk durability? I don't know if its the one stick or not but my buddy has had his XXXX since its release and the thing looks like it should be in pieces. He plays college level [D3] and the thing is still holding up. If I can get pictures I wil l tonight and post them sometime tomorrow. [We have practice tonight]

I've been using the XXXX for the past little while, I find that it is very well balanced but as some people have pointed out it isn't the lightest stick on the market, though it is not heavy by any means. I was skeptical about the stick at first but after one ice-time with it I was sold. In my opinion The balance of the stick cancels out the fact that it weighs a little more than some top-end sticks. Though I haven't had the chance to use the XXX-lite, I would recommend the XXXX if your willing to fork over a few extra bucks

I used to use Vapor XXX sticks and i tried the XXXX recently. I liked my XXX's alot better, but i just recently bought two One90's (One of them being Tacticle and the other Stick'um) and they actually compare to the XXX's (similar balance IMO.)

I had a xxxx before i got the thirty and dispite what most people are saying here i liked it better than the xxx i have now. I picked up the thirty only because there selling for 95.00 at my LHS. Thirty was way to gripy for me so i sanded it down completely, its totally black like the blade and is very slippery. The xxx does feel a little more balanced than the xxxx. Forty is a little more blade heavy. But there was something about it. As far as duribilty is concerned my xxxx only lasted a month and my xxxx is on three months. Just unlucky i guess. The xxxx is lighter than the one 90 and has alot different feel. More of concave shaft than rounded, I like the xxxx is better than the one 90 to but the 0ne 90 is nice. Waiting till the 10th so i can give the one95 a try

i won't disagree in regards to balance on the One90 and XXX, but IMHO, aside from the curve pattern i was using, that's about the only thing they had in common....

i just felt like my wrist shot was doing NOTHING with that stick.....i mean, i know i could have went through an adjustment period, which i never have a problem with after some time, but since i had the opportunity to get a couple of other XXX's, i knew i wouldn't be using the One90 any longer....

either way....ALL of your posts have been helpful guys....thanks very much....

I totally agree about the wrist shot problem. I felt the same way when using the One 90 compared to the XXX. BTW im sure there will still be XXX's around for quite some time as I always see stores having massive loads of prostocks but im sure that will come to an end eventually.

I'll concur with the wrist shot problem with the one90 as well. For a while there my wristers had absolutely no pop to them. Same thing goes with the XXXX. The slappers were pretty amazing, but in terms of wristers and slappers...forget it. That stick cost me some goals.

After going through one90 and XXXX, I chose the SicKick, which imo is the superior shooting stick in comparison to both NBH's top sticks.

You do have to adjust your shooting technique a little based on KP etc. Personally, I've never noticed a difference because my wrister is solely based on quick release, not power or much accuracy.

Wow...so many of the same experiences I had. I hate the damn thing to be honest. They may last, but the feel is terrible. I also switched to the U+ and I really like the feel.

obviously you do adjust after using the stick for more than 2 months. i did notice though that the pop wasn't there with either stick for my wristers. it's not like i used it 2 or 3 times and threw it aside. nope, i used it for a good long while and still hated it. i wanted to like it, but just couldn't.

That's exactly how i feel about my U+.

ok.....

so after having asked for opinions here, and doing more research on the sticks....i decided to pick up Vapor XXXX to see what was going on (after one of my pro stock XXXs got 2-handed and went bye bye on the ensuing shot)...

some points after having used it about 4 or 5 times:

- the stick is NOT so much heavier than the XXX IMHO....not even enough to be a bother....

- the puck feel, and accepting passes on this stick is OUTRAGEOUSLY FANTASTIC....best features on this stick by far IMHO

- i agree that the "pop" is not the same on wrist shots as the XXX, but IMHO, it's because it feels stiffer than the 102 XXX i had....i'm going to have to give a 87 a shot once i'm done with this XXXX

either way, i love the stick....Bauer has yet to disappoint me over the last 17 years folks....now that is TOPS!

The interesting thing about this stick is I've seen a few of them in my adult league. I really haven't seen any other high end stick aside from closeout Stealth CNT's. So they must be somewhat popular.

I've heard the same complaints as many of you about the One90 and wrist shots... I used my buddy's and had the same experience. From what I've noticed, the typical user of the One90 seems to be a power player with a preference toward the slap shot rather than the wrister. You guys agree? I was suprised though to see Patrick Kane using one, who rarely ever uses the slapper. Maybe he went down to a lower flex than normal (vs what he may use for a XXX or XXXX)? I was thinking that might be the way to get better pop for wristers if you're not too huge on slapshots. Just a thought. I may give it a try and see how much it hurts my slapper. Since according to NBH it is catered toward "power" maybe it won't kill the shot too much. I love my XXX Lite but don't know how much longer it will last, so I gotta find a new favorite stick.

i would say the XXXX is fine for slappers....i happen to like to use both shots (slapper, wrister), but as for most players, the wrister would take precedent....

i've also used a One 90 in the past and felt the same way about the wristers.....MORE SO with the One 90 than i do with the XXXX though...the slappers were great with the One 90, but through personal use, i really didn't feel like i was losing a lot on my slappers switching back to my XXX-Lite....

i think the XXXX will be GREAT for wristers once i'm able to take a step down in the flex....i've been CONSISTENTLY using a 102, but just feel like the XXXX is a bit stiffer than normal
