When they were announced, they were boo-ed. Afterwards I heard a lot of "You guys are fags." or other variations...

That was one big freaking flag.

I can't stand them, this area is horrible about it. What's worse is that I've grown up as a Yankees fan, when I was 14 the Rays played their first game. I've probably watched more and been to more Rays(or Devil Rays) games than most of these "diehard" Rays fans that give me crap because I'm a Yankees fan. ...Although they are quick to shut up when I start asking them about players that used to be on the team that they never heard of. I still stand by the Rays, as merely a supporter of the team... but I'd prefer this be the Yankees and Phillies. Ah well, at least this is helping the local economy, I know that it has to be because I'm now poor. :(

Agreed...I know you were there last night and even though they lost, you can tell on TV that the stadium is totally devoid of atmosphere and it just did not seem like a World Series game. I guess I'm just used of bedlam in the stands at a WS game.

I've been to games at the Trop and the best way to describe it is "canned."

You can bet it will be full-on bedlam @ Citizen's Bank Park in Philly.

It had it's moments but yeah, it didnt have a playoff feel to it, let alone a World Series. You should have seen the crap they gave us, some stupid taco bell tag to wear around our necks... No thanks.

The fans aren't well versed either, they just don't know baseball. Some of these gays are standing up and cheering for pop-ups to the outfield like they're homeruns. Most of the Philly fans were actually decent, but of course 1 of the 10 around us had to be a douche... So we started playing basketball with peanuts and his beer. :P

I was at Chickie's and Pete's for a playoff game a few wks ago with LegoDoom and it was crazy in there, and that's a bar.

I went into McFadden's, the bar in Phillie's stadium after a Flyers game for a Dodgers away game. That was pretty nuts as well, Chickie and Pete's was apparently packed so the group I was with decided against going.

JR, don't tell me you and Lego were at C&P's on the 13th, I would be pissed I chose the wrong bar ^_^ .

Another crazy place. My last Phillies game, I ended up on the floor of the bathroom there. (McFadden's).

I saw a great needle, referring to all the cowbell wavers.

Hey guys thanks for the call, I live maybe, 6 minutes from there! Of course if your talking about the one of Roosevelt Boulevard, if not, I'm about 20 from the one in South Philly. I could have gotten you guys free drinks and food all night, a bunch of my buddies from high school work there!!!

Not to mention I am at school (Penn State) and the atmosphere up here is unbelievable, everywhere you turn there are Phillies cap's, t-shirts or jerseys. On top of that the school is already excited with the way our football team is playing! I love my sports teams at the moment (minus the terrible start of the Flyers). LET GO PHIL'S!

The one across from the sports complex.

We would've been satisfied with a booth earlier, we sat down around the 5th inning after Derek had to bribe the hostess.

So true. It's really sad that I have to remind them of guys that have come and gone that were fan favorites for fans that watched when they sucked. Even Tony FREAKING Saunders, big name pitcher that had one of the most devastatingly-breathtaking injuries in baseball(and I think it happened at home too). It still makes me sick to my stomach thinking about it... and most dont remember or cared enough to know he existed... AND HE DID IT TWICE!!! Albeit the second time was in a rehab stint.

It's a shame but this area is like that, there are a lot of northerners that have moved down and parents teams of choice will have an impact on their kids... especially when locally the team is not doing well.

Believe me, it's a very gratifying feeling to know you've brainwashed your children into the same torture you've endured!

When we were watching the Sox in the WS last year, my younger daughter was eight and said, "J.D. Drew?? Wait a sec, Lowell should be up!"

I must confess, it brought a bit of moisture to my eye.....

haha, that's funny, borderline adorable.

I was lucky growing up as a Yankees fan. They weren't too good when I was really young(despite the pic I have of a 5 year-old TBL wearing a Yankees shirt), turned it up and dominated and it eventually came to an end.

P.S.

Haha I know it well. I love the C&P's in South Philly. That place is packed whether its a Wednesday night with no sports teams playing or game seven of the World Series. I probably could have gotten you guys a seat where you would have liked, that is my old neighborhood. The mussels and Alaskan king crab legs are amazing there. I am jealous.

Also thought this picture was hilarious when I saw a kid walking around with this on a t-shirt.
