One55 skates?

Recommended Posts

Only thing I came up with in a search was that they are less stiff than the 75's and are an intermediate level skate. I know about the different liner, but am really wondering how well it reacts to baking. Anyone have any experiences on this relatively new product?

I have the Supreme Comp(one55 SMU with one75 liner & outsole:) ). They felt great out of the box and during the sit-in after baking felt even better. The weird thing was, an hour later when I got home, I couldn't fit into them, and barely got into them barefoot(they shrank?!). Ended up going back the next day baking+punching them again, and after a few skates felt much better.

Out of all the skates they had in the store that I tried, they felt the best as it didn't seem like I was slipping my feet into a rectangular box and felt it conformed to my feet even better after baking. Hope that helps. ;)

Where would these be available to purchase online?

Never heard of them, but i have tried on the One55 and of all the Bauer skates are the only ones that don't hurt my feet.

But, with a better lining and better outsole?

I did a quick Google search. Can't find them.

Anyone know where they would be available online?

I'm not sure how the skates shrank after baking. Odd... I own a pair and they definitely arent "intermediate" skates to me. I think peole are too hung up on the liner. In my opinion these skates are the best skates out there at $189. Lightspeed 2 holders etc. Way beyond the "intermediate" level of skates of other brands. IMHO they would be top of the line 2-3 yrs ago. They are comfortable, light, molds to my ankles very well. (best of any skate I've owned) Also, the tongue is pretty nifty too. I have baked mne twice already. The dealer said 3 times is the accepted number but they have done it 5-6 times on these skates w\o any problems.

Its a Source for Sports exclusive(this case The Hockey Shop in Surrey), and I agree, its a lot more skate than you pay for :D. It was the last skate I tried on when they didn't have the one75 in stock and it was 30 minutes after closing(thanks for the crew for sticking around here), and I was getting worried being the first time buying new skates, nothing felt "right" until I saw these on display thinking they would fit like a one55/one75.

Funny thing was, I went to drop them off for a rocker job(9ft) at another store and they took a measurement telling me I had one skate at 7ft and the other at 11ft. :o

sorry to bump and old thred but have a few questions.

My LHS doesnt have these Saw the one75 and one95 I believe. I am going to guess the fit will be pretty much exactly the same right?

I am leaning towards this skate because it seems to have a great amount of features at a solid price.

My only worry is that I only have a few years skate experience and with the little ones at home have not been on the ice much in the past few years. Will these be to stiff? Please dont slaughter me I know its a noob question. I am about 5'7" go between 160 and 170 depending on lifting and time of year. Definetly not a power skater.

comming from easton UL pros I got to say when I picked up the one95 I was stunned at how light it was, that said it felt lile it wasnt going to be to giving.

The fit is basically the same, however the feel is different.

For me, the One75 hurt my ankles. The outer shell is too hard.

The One55 felt good, because the outer shell is softer.

A lot to sift through, but your answers are in there.

yes they are all mid level skates

the talon is the 5k

the thrust is the 7k

the volt is the 3k

the shift is the XXV

and the select II is the XVI

How can the Shift be the xxv and go for $399? everywhere else the XXV's are around $100 less. Is this a combo like the supreme comp?

Yeah I read about 17 pages of it. 75 pages is a lil rough.

Think I found a shop not to far that stocks the one55. Will try to make it up there on tuesday night I think. Besides I have to wait till my grafs sell on fleabay, see how much I have and then decide what I will get.

Looks like for my skating ability and level the one55 is the choice though.

I can answer the question in regards to the differences between the Shift and the XXV:

Shift is more expensive because:

-it uses same outsole as XXXX

-uses a hydrophobic clarino liner (XXV uses something else)

-there was one more thing but i forgot i basically got this off a chart from my LHS but the shift is the model after the XXIX.

from my understanding, the SMU's are supposed to offer better features than the catalogue products, at the same price

the shift is built off of the XXV with a few things upgraded

the supreme comp is the same way, built off the supreme one55

so I went to the LHS and they had the one55. The boot fit reallty nice. I was suprised it looks like it will be a form of medieval torture but was definetely not.

This looks like it will be the skate I buy. After adding shipping and a harpening it is only a 15.00 difference between online and the LHS so I will spend my money at the LHS.

I did have a few questions about the supreme 70 though.

I have been searching and it seems it is based on the 8090 boot which means little to me as I have little knowledge here and no experience with that boot. I will obviously attempt to source and try on a supreme70 prior to deciding I think hockeyx in oakland may have them. Obviously only trying them on will show which fits me better. I wanted to determine which has a better set of features if they were both comfortable. The features seemed pretty close to me in looking at the website info, but the 70 seems to have higher features, but the one55 has newer technology.

just from personal experience i was in the market for one55s. i saw the supreme comps at the hockey store in surrey and noticed that it was the one55 boot, but with the one75 outsole and liner. for the same price at my local cyclone (coquitlam bc) as the one55 i opted for the supreme comp since it was a better deal. im sure you can get them shipped as well if you find that the one55s fit better.

as for your question about the 70s- back in the day it was one skate below the top of the line one90s, so itll have better features than the mid-level one55. aside from fit, i think the major differences are the 70's clarino liner, LS2P holder (which is very different than regular ls2)and a different material on the boot. the supreme 70 also had a stiffer outsole compared to the one55. depending on pp and your skating abilities you may be able to take advantage of what the 70s offer on top of the one55s, otherwise from what ive seen the one55 is a very solid boot for the price.
