Pro stock S15 vs One95

Recommended Posts

there's been more & more pro stock S15 popping up on ebay - very similar to eric42434224 got: http://www.modsquadhockey.com/forums/index...=41678&st=0

{BTW made me think that maybe it's the next year's model?}

I really like my stock S15, except that because of the glue issues they're falling apart & gotten quite soft (I tried gorilla glue & super glue etc - works for one or 2 ice times & that's it).

Of course durability of these prostocks is unknown, but should most likely be a lot better then retail models

I fit well in both One95 (because of Alive probably most people do) and S15, so assuming fit isn't an issue & price is about the same I'm curious what would be a "better" skate?

I got some info re S15 & One95 - One95 is being described as more responsive, and more solid overall

but so far I can't find anyone who had a chance to compare prostock S15 with One95, so any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks!

This is a tough one because both are newer models of skates hence the durabiltiy factor of both are still up for debate. So far the One/95's have had good reviews for performance and fit but then again the fit and performance of the S-15 has great reviews as well. I've heard lots of reviews about sections of the S-15 coming unglued though. My question is , is this just cosmetic or does it effect the performance of the skate. If it doesn't effect the performance of the skate and just makes it look somewhat shabby it doesn't matter so stick with it because it's what your feet are accustomed to and it wouldn't change the on ice feel. If the performance of the skate is an issue after the skate has taken on ice abuse for a period of time I'd change over to the One/95. Both are expensive skates and I know I'd want some durability out of what I'm paying good money for. I'd give the One/95 a try if there is that performance issue. Worst that could happen is you could always switch back to Eastons when they come up with a newer model but judging how the One/95 is put together you should get a decent amount of durability from them.

first off glue issue so far have only been reported on the first generation stock S15 - for pro stocks or even 08 stocks (that are double stitched now) there haven't been anything reported

secondly - for stock S15 - once you get glue issues they aren't just cosmetic - the entire skate becomes noticably softer, plus because of these holes water penetrates right into the boot makint the liner wet

so I'm not comparing stock S15 with One95 - in my book One95 wins that comparison on durability alone

A couple factors to add to the discussion.

The one/95 will be noticably lighter than the prostock s15. What makes the s15 prostocks different is the added layer of carbon fiber, that is glued and double stitched, as well as extra rubber/leather added on top of the extisting. It makes the skate tank-like....they were protective before, but now they could withstand a nuke....but it makes them heavier. Also is the full steel adding weight. After a couple months, the prostocks are most assuredely more durable than the retail...but again, heavier. I am using the s15s due to fitting issues, or I would have tried the one95.

If the s15 fits you, then the prostocks will do you well. If you need that little performance edge, the one95's weight might make the decision tougher.

Weight - one95

Durability - unknown

Protection - s15

Fit - unknown

Warranty - one95

It looks like a draw. Just put them both on a credit card :)

to add a few more:

Performance: seems like One95 would have an edge

Price: again One95 can be found a bit cheaper now days

so looks like overall One95 might have an edge...

I wish there was a 'test drive' option available :(

I got my custom one95s for $290 shipped.

How? eBay? Used at a pro or semi-pro equipment sale? I don't need new skates at the moment, but that's a great price for One95s and I'm sure I'm not the only one who's curious about how you landed them for that price.

most likely - One95 is no more then $495 brand new (lettermen) - on ebay I saw them going for as low as $300 depending on condition
