Ducks prospect injured in off-ice incident

I'll make a special exception and put aside my hatred of the Wolverines just this once, since this is just a stupid incident involving a kid with a future NHL career and a jackass: Steve Kampfer, 4th round pick of the Ducks in '07 and junior D-man with Michigan, was seriously injured in an off-ice incident early Sunday. Apparently a walk-on running back from UM's football team picked Kampfer up and slammed him down on the ground, fracturing Kampfer's skull and some vertabrae. Thoughts and prayers are with him, and nice job by a dumbass who's team has enough trouble with negative attention.

College kids out there. There have been a alarming number of attacks on college campuses all over the country. I went to Iowa and there have were 40 men sent to the hospital last school year after unprovoked attacks on the street. This year they are already at 18. That doesn't include people that picked themselves up and went home without saying a word.

Hopefully this kid can make a recovery and play again.

That's good to hear... we just had our own incident Saturday night in East Lansing. Another football vs. hockey background, with the hockey player falling and hitting his head. Gotta love the intraschool fighting, great way to rep the university.

Initially I heard it was 9 football players vs. 4 hockey players, after a few hockey players were mouthing off that the football team sucked and hadn't won a national championship in years. I don't know how factual all of that is yet since it's still early, but it wouldn't surprise me. By the way Ronny, it was A.J. Sturges that went to the hospital. He'll be fine, but I find it funny that about half of the current hockey players are essentially high schoolers. I wonder who else was involved on both sides, it'll be interesting to get more info at Munn later this week.

Two nights ago was at the Joe, last night was at Yost, where Michigan completed the season sweep over Sparty.

It's a shame that those cold-cocking, neck-slashing thugs ruined what was otherwise the first close game between the two teams this season. Thankfully, it seems Comley is handling it well.
