SE16 vs S15 skates...

Recommended Posts

what are the main differences in these 2 pairs? for $80 there has got to be something substantial

i think the s17 just catches passes a little easier and has a little better handling.... ya know stuff like tht.

if your planning on getting one of those sticks definitley go with the SE16(cheaper and works just as well)

The concept of the SE16 OPS is better feel/puck feel. The stick itsself has "weights" inserted in the blade for better puck feel, and to counter balance the stick they also put a weight of some sort in the upper portion of the shaft. My initial impression of the stick was it felt pretty good, and much better than my S17 OPS.

I'm pretty sure JR is right, he's talking about skates.

And matt- you're backwards. The blade on the S17 is a lot stiffer and will let pucks pop off it a lot easier when catching passes than the SE. And the ellipse stiffness essentially stiffens the entire lower portion of the stick, raising the kick point while being a dream on torsional rigidity and blade response. The blade in the S17 is harder and thinner which better balances the stick, but not very forgiving and definitely more brittle. SE/16 has a traditional taper/low kick point.

I assume the SE16 just has blade revisions, as that's all they've really done to the Synergy lately.

I have yet to get my hands on an SE16 stick though, I'd be jazzed to get a 75 senior as I loved the SE, just felt the 85 was a touch stiff for anything but properly loaded shots for me.

I dunno, but I really like the feel of the Easton Synergy II shaft with an Easton Elite blade. The OPS are growing on me, but I think I can get a lot more use out of a shaft/blade combo. Is the Synergy II comparable to any of the new Synergy shafs or S17s etc? I've yet to try those.

the synergy elite shaft replaced the synergy II, no shaft for the s17, just a newer z-bubble called the s15 but its standard. If you like 2pc I'd stick with them

Yeah, don't know many with pairs of sticks.

But anyway, the materials and boot cut are different. Stealth is lighter than SyNergy. Thing is, it's not uncommon to find someone fitting in both skates well - think a bigger distinction needs to be made in terms of the fits.

i have been skating in pro stock synergies for the past 2 yrs now, how will the stealth fit differently?

s15 has much better heel lock, and a bit more volume - otherwise I found the overall fit very comparable between 1500C & S15 - same toe cup, about the same width etc
