Bruins thread

No kidding.

The only reason people associate pink hats with bandwagon fans is the pink hats first became available around the time the Sox won the first Series. If pink hats had been made available 25 years ago, women would have been wearing them for years and the "real fans" wouldn't accuse the women of not being fans.

Given a choice of blue, red or pink, what color do you think my daughters would want to wear? And trust me, my younger daughter is a fan. She was just shy of nine when the Sox won their second WS, and she didn't realize there was no DH at Coors Field, so she didn't realize Lowell was sitting. When Drew came up, she said, "J.D. Drew??? What's he doing up? Mike Lowell should be up."

We're making plans to go through NYC, Boston and NH this summer, hopefully going to Fenway, and you better believe I'm going to try to find pink hats for the ladies!

The problem is some Bostona large number of sports fans are just stupid.

Fixed that for you

Man it was intense, I was actually really nervous at the end and was thinking of leaving the game before the end but was scared to get pushed around. Was I a jerk of going there with my t-shirt, or were these guys just plane crazy. I mean Montreal fans are passionate to, but I never see Leafs fans or Bruins fans in Montreal getting assaulted.

Montreal has some of the most abusive and obnoxious fans in any city in north america. There have been countless incidents of racial comments directed at players and fans as well as the typical physical threats to out of town fans. The fact that it's harder to get a ticket as an out of town fan means you will see fewer in raw numbers but the percentage of out of town fans with "War stories" from Montreal is very high.

At least TD Banknorth Garden isn't a sea of pink Bruins hats like Fenway is. *knock on wood*

THANK GOD. Although if the bruins were to win the Cup you'll see all the dopes going to games just to be seen and have no clue about hockey.

No kidding.

That is exactly right when someone refers to fans as "pink hats" there talking about all the fair weather fans, at least in New England. I have had many friends who have gone to Sox games and had some dopes near them that had no clue who was on the team or basic rules.

If you haven't been to Fenway before be prepared to spend a few bucks. Between the parking, Tix, and food you'll spend a small fortune.

And you have a problem with females being fans because.....................

And you assume because..... Pink sports apparel just doesn't do anything for me. What's the point of team colors if it all becomes universal? For the record -the wife's Red Sox hat is blue.

So you're real problem with new fans is that they drive tickets out of your price range. Bitter much?

No. I'm not a Sox fan I actually enjoy watching Sox fans blow $300 - $400 on one game. Especially when they lose.

I don't get as concerned about team colors/looks. In fact, I like shirts that are different. I have a Sox t-shirt that looks like Superman is tearing off his shirt to reveal a Sox logo. One of my Bruins shirt looks like a Picasoo; look closer and you realize it's a B's shirt. My favorite shirt -- which I haven't worn since the Sox won the first WS and which will remain in the closet until I'm buried -- has the logos from the four teams, as well as Bugs and Taz. Gotta love cultural icons!

So it's easy to see why pink apparel doesn't bother me, although I understand why people don't care for bandwagon fans -- I just don't think pink is a big indicator of being fair weathered. I remember being somewhat irritated by seeing a lot more Sox hats than normal during the winter of 04-05. It seemed like people weren't willing to own up to being a Sox fan when they hadn't won in 86 years, but they were willing to show it off once the Sox won.

Regarding the cost of Fenway, we used to go when bleacher seats were $3 each. Will it be more expensive now?

Actually, I forewarned the ladies that Fenway has been sold out for around four years and ticket prices are insane. However, I told them that if the economy rebounds slightly and my business picks up, it's an indulgence I'm prepared to make. And I'd especially love to get Monster seats.

Back to the B's, has it not been almost Patriot-esque how well they've been able to plug in players and absorb the injuries?

It's the "hot ticket" though... It's bound to happen when a team is successful. Do I miss waltzing in, buying bleacher seats for cheap bucks, putting my feet up on the empty seats in front of me, and having a few beers on a nice summer night with some buddies? Yeah.. Do I find it humorous that someone will pay $300+ for 2 seats... no, a little lavish for me, but to each his own.

Absolutely.. The wins aren't the eyebrow-raising barn-burners, but they're getting the job done.

But it is a huge indicator of how being a fan has become fashionable. Team colors should not be accessorized.

Boys, it is called marketing. Why do you think there are third jerseys in the NHL? To sell more. The same is true of the pink hats. If it means you sell more hats because pink is appealing to females then the almighty dollar says you will sell pink hats.

Back to the B's; the last time they were set to face the Caps I didn't like how they led into it and I feel the same here. Getting woefully outshot by the Isles and still getting the win sets the B's for another loss to the Caps.

Exactly. And just because someone has a blue Boston hat, or Yankee hat, or whatever, doesn't mean that they're even a fan of their team. People buy what they think is cool. For girls it might be the pink hats. For guys it might just be the hat itself. Hell I had one of the baby blue UNC hats in middle school and I couldn't name one player on the team. I was just following the crowd.

Great game but Washington was the better team tonight. Much better effort than in Long Island. Couple of break downs cost them big time and the Caps cashed in. Can't wait until the 27th. when they get them on home ice.

Holy crazy 3rd period of this Blues-Bruins game. Backes with that crazy batted in goal with a second to go. The Bruins scoring 3 goals in a minute.

Too bad it was with a high stick. Oh well, them's the breaks.

Bergeron to play tonight. Let's see how long this lasts.

Just got home from the game- Bergeron, Lucic and Ference back in the lineup... Nice to sneak away with an extra point being outshot just about the entire game.

I'm starting to believe in the hometown team boys. Now I've gotta score tickets to bring a girl, is it as hard a get as they say?

Depends on when you want to go. If you try for a Tuesday night then it shouldn't be too hard. Thursdays might be a little tougher with folks lining up for student discount night and Saturday/Sunday can be tough now, especially if it is a matinee affair.

My brother and I have gone just about every day of the week this season...Most of the time, all that was left was $90+ loge seats, and on a whim- it's a little rich for my blood. We've made out well on Stub Hub, only paying a few bucks more.

Was at the game yesterday- they were lucky to get a point after being more less out played most of the game. Lucic doesn't look like himself- I would guess he still has some lingering shoulder issues.
