Steve Montador and Mark Recchi....meh. I guess I expected a little more then a depth blue-liner and a 41 year old forward.

I'd put the Bruins and Pens at the top of the list for best additions. The Bruins didn't upset the roster and plugged a couple holes, exactly what you should expect from the number one team in the conference. It's not like the top team in the East should be making wholesale changes.

True, but those acquisitions didn't really address their needs. They needed to add some size up front and someone who can move the puck from the back end.

I don't think they were bad, but at the same time I don't think they were all that great.

Hard to say they have major holes in their lineup given their place in the standings. Looking at their roster, they have some guys on the blue line that can move the puck pretty well. None of them are Dan Boyle or Brian Rafalski, but there really wasn't anyone available that would have been a major step up. The only guys close to that were Morris and Leopold and it would have taken quite a bit to get either one.

Recchi plays bigger than his size and works hard. It's also not like you're talking about a team that is made up of smurfs either. They only have a couple guys that are under 6' tall. Antropov was the only guy that could have played on their top couple lines and wouldn't have cost a roster player to pick up. I think Recchi is a good fit and will not cause any style problems trying to work him into their lineup.

Recchi's age shouldn't be a problem. He's only going to be here for 4 months max and definitely fills a need. If they want size up front, sit Axe and play Bitz.

I'd love to know what the deal for the name player in his prime was that fell through. Chiarelli alluded to it during his press conference.

Good win last night. I hope they can start putting teams away when they have a lead like early in the season.

Hopefully Kessel is starting to get back to how he was playing in November and December. Awesome shot on his first goal.

Getting Mono really disrupted his season. I had Mono about nine years ago and it can last a while. I was surprised how early he came back. I hope he's starting to get hot heading into the playoffs.

Tough game today. I thought there were a few questionable penalties. But in the end they have to start to close teams out when they have a lead in the third period. Give credit to the Pens they played good and capitalized on there chances. The B's need to start doing more of that.

i watched the game and i thought once the bruins got the lead that was the end of it - garon looked really shaky again...

i think the penguins offense just basically bailed garon out that game.

I don't think the B's have played with great intensity, overall, since the first two periods of the San Jose game. It's almost like the shellacking they took in the third period of that game shook their confidence to nothing.

I think what they need is a good, ol' fashioned donnybrook game.

Ditto. Like the Stars game. That started the great play in the first half of the season.

I also agree... playing a full 60 minutes would help too. If things don't hit the upswing, they'll be sitting pretty at 3rd in the conference. NJ and WSH are nipping at their heels.

What hurt the most the other night was how well they played early on. It's like when the third period started they played not to lose. Instead of going out and burying them with a couple of more goals.

I think it's safe to say that today's game has to be the most important game so far this season. If they have a performance like the Thursday it's going to be a long week.

I'm not totally sold on yesterday's game. They caught Brodeur being very human. The effort was good most of the way but there were still stretches where they were dominated by NJ.

I agree. I understand NJ had more reason to be motivated, but they outshot the B's 17-3 in the 3rd. Basically, Thomas won the game for them in the 3rd, whereas it would have been a team victory if they played with better passion in the 3rd.

I was at the game on sunday and I'll have to agree with chippa as far as not being sold. It was nice seeing them clinch the division live. Pretty much all of the bounces went the Bruins way and Thomas stood on his head in the 3rd. We'll see how they do on Saturday with a long 5 days off.

5 days off is a killer. What do you do, give the guys three days off and practice hard on the last two. Not really beneficial from the injury standpoint either. Don't mind getting a recovery, but you need to keep going at this point in the season.

The NJ game went well for the B's. I don't like that Devils team at all... not one bit.

If I were the coach, Monday would be an off day, Tuesday and maybe Wednesday would be hard skating days and Thursday and Friday would be system and special teams tuning days.

Anyone have any idea why the Bruins game tonight (3/28) wouldn't be on Center Ice? They have both feeds of the Dallas/Fla game, but not the top seed in the East? sucks.
