DarkStar50 680 Report post Posted November 13, 2008 That is the retail stock skate SE16 for 2009. My rep showed me the skate this week. This year's SE16 will only be available in Europe in 2009.

hattrick74 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 i am debating getting these or some white custom s15's, i am not sure if $100 more is worth it....
rtwng20 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 According to what I've read. Easton has solved the toe covering issue on the White version. I guess we'll see.
schrempsky 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 the toe covering material is the rubber like material and it covers the entire toe cap
eric42434224 1 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 i am debating getting these or some white custom s15's, i am not sure if $100 more is worth it....I have custom s15's. You should keep in mind that while they are more protective, have full steel, are stiffer, and more durable, they are also noticably heavier.I have them as the s15 is the only skate that fits me. The real question for you is which one fits. I had the synergy 1500's and the fit is a bit different. They fit, but not as well as my s15's, and I had a terrible time getting used to them. Fell on turns, got really bad blisters, etc. Fit is #1 consideration.....but the s15 is a higher performance skate IMO.
DarkStar50 680 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 The rubberized toe cap on the Easton skate line for 2009 has increased the weight of the skate across the entire line. You can feel a difference in weight holding the 2009 retail skates from this year's Easton skate line.
43%burnt 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2008 okay, i was looking at the se16s since they are pretty cheap now, what's the issues with the toe cap that the white version supposedly fixed? is the white version worth the extra cash for the new improvements? just curious. word. sockeyes17 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2008 Yeah if you want to go SE16 because of the durability issues with the S-15 go with the white version because the black ones have the same toe cap as the S-15. I was wearing S-15's and loved them but decided to give the SE16's a try and I can't stand them at all. Totally different fit

Krev 86 Report post Posted December 22, 2008 I don't have the catalog at home with me, but in the 'perfect' world, a retail S17 would still cost less than a custom S15 that has to come from the factory in Montreal.

43%burnt 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2008 so what was happening to the current toe caps (non-white version)? are they breaking apart from shots, cracking, or just getting chewed up from skate blades or something?

Krev 86 Report post Posted December 23, 2008 Getting chewed up, with the synthetics peeling from the carbon toe cap.Which was also the problem with the S15's. The S17's have supposedly remedied this.

A2rhino 63 Report post Posted December 28, 2008 Please tell me thats not the color scheme their going with? I loved the S15 skate but not a fan of the silver boot. I settled with it because of the fit and performance of MY S15 skates. But this is just over the top. They already have a high end White skate. Why 2? duch 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2008 Like a lot of manufactuers Easton has gone to two separate lines of skates. The Synergy line and the Stealth line and they fit slightly differently. I've tried both and either fit although different seems to suit my feet just fine. I'm glad to see they've cleared up the toe covering issue though even if it does add a little weight to the skate lines. Again go with fit, whatever skate fits your feet the best. firestud17 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2008 easton should have made 2 seperate lines- One with composite materials and the other without it. They are making us that like more traditional boots downgrade to lower model skates that cost much less.
