MacDaddyDanny 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 I have the One90's whicht have the Tuuk Lightspeed II Power runner on them. After not lacing the top 2 eyelets for a few sessions, then not lacing only the top eyelet for a few more sessions, I decided just to lace them all up. I find myself leaving the top few eyelets of my boot loose so i can get more knee bend. I was thinking of going to a runner that was pitched more forward so I wouldn't have to leave my skates loose up top. Does anyone know if the regular Lightspeed II runner (that comes on the Vapor XXXX) is more forward pitched??? What are some other runners that are pitched more forward than the Lightspeed Power. I was thinking of buying Grafs next because i heard that they are more forward pitched but I'm not ready for new skates quite yet.
jrgretzky99 1 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 The Tuuk Lightspeed Pitch is the same across the board. Talk to your LHS and ask them if they will put heel lifts in them. Another option is to have them rockered with a forward pitch. Bauers to Grafs would be a drastic change and you will probably just end up going back to bauer in the end. schrempsky 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 the boot sounds to be a bit stiffer than you would like it to beso try skipping the third eyelet, and lacing the rest up normally, before you spend extra money, just try something else to see if it helps you get the knee bend you want
Hockeydog 8 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 so try skipping the third eyelet, and lacing the rest up normallyJust to play devils advocate, would skipping the 3rd eyelet cause premature breakdown of the boot?
Jordan 13 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 FWIW...I have XXXX's, and for me, it was ideal to add forward pitch, and to skip the eyelet second from the top. Also, not to tie it too tight.I haven't noticed any premature breakdown at all...on the ice twice per week year 'round, and not a light weight!
ID Rollerpop 4 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 Another thing since you indicated that you were in one90's with the ls2power any change to a new runner even a normal lightspeed 2 would require having new holders mounted. It wasn't until the one95' that the longer runner was put on a regular lightspeed 2 mounting so it could be used interchangeably with regular lightspped 2 steel. I would think that before going the full round or replacing the holders that trying a heel lift under the existing holders like jrgretz said would be the way I would proceed. schrempsky 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 skipping the eyelet will make the boot feel softerbut if he is having trouble flexing the boot as it is, there will be no structural breakdown of the bootso IMO this makes the boot more functional for himso try skipping the third eyelet, and lacing the rest up normallyJust to play devils advocate, would skipping the 3rd eyelet cause premature breakdown of the boot? bigsnake76 2 Report post Posted November 15, 2008 I have this exact same problem. I just switched from skating on Prolite 3 crap for 7 years to a TUUK lightspeed 2 on my new vapors. First time I laced them tight in the mid foot, loose on top all the way up. I did not have the knee bend that I could get with my CCM's. Played last night (skating on them for the 2nd time), left the top eyelet open. I felt like I could really extend my stride when chasing down dumped in pucks. I would just leave the top open and be done with it. If you look at a lot of the pros, many of them leave one sometimes two eyelets open (Bryce Salvador). Just my 2 cents. Its just all personal preference per your skating style.
interpathway 9 Report post Posted November 16, 2008 Grafs next because i heard that they are more forward pitchedYes you're right. Their Cobra 3000/5000 holders put you right up on your toes. Too bad they look terrible and have suspect steel...
