Yeah it looks like almost every player out there is skating in their old skates...they're most comfertable and they're most used to them im guessing since its a pretty big game/ tournament

Is it me or the old skates that players continue to use after a prolongues period is the Tack skates. Weird that players wear all kinds of different brands, but the players who wear older model skates seem to stick with Tacks. Jovo, Chelios and Kaberle come to mind.

None of the new skates are made the way the old Tacks were made. Most of those players are also guys who don't jump to the latest gear too.

I knew there had to be a reason behind it, could you explain? I used to wear Jovo's skates. Just a quick summary of what seperates the old Tacks? You are right that alot of the guys don't switch to the latest and greatest.

Obviously pro models often differ greatly from retail models but the old Tacks were so well built that they would last serious hockey players years. Most of the new skates aren't made that well as they sacrifice everything for lighter weight. They also had a bit more padding than the newer models.

yeah, mario i thought was playing pretty good. he made some nice passes down low when he had the puck, and i was a little surprised seeing him lay the body and get in that scrum too. i knew he still had it haha.

anyone catch reghr using the sherwood momentum? first time i've seen a pro use one besides bondra

yea beside bondra...really for some people it look cheap because the price is cheap(89CND) and there a bit heaviler then normal OPS(normal)

But i think air-core is really REALLY a good idea for hockey stick danm i'M sticking with franklin air-core for 1 year and a half now!!!!SO nice feel

I use a ops stick(7035 air core) and a air core blade...there great balance ligther then wood sticker with same feel as wood!!!!

well maybe shaft are quite bad(I broke one of my 3 by just flexing in the hockey room(piss me soooo off!!!!!well that my error) but the 2 other last me 7 month of 5 time per week hockey(good durability))

I know it kinda off topic but it was a reply to lee92's reply

Regehr used Sherwood Momentums starting midway during last season so it's not exactly a new thing for him.

A couple things to contribute to the converation:

IGGY

I noticed in the Stanley Cup finals Iggy was wearing Vector skates with ProLite holders. I saw this clearly from the pics in the ModSquad NHL gallery shots.

NAZZY

Nazzy is a contracted Nike guy, not to mention a top notch human being, so even if his contract is only for NHL games, I'm sure he'd be using the Nike stuff.

A couple years ago he had a deal with Mission, tried real hard, but just couldn't find the back of the net so he discontinued his contract, but when the Queen of England came to watch a game, at the big photo op face off Nazzy used a Mission stick. Classy.

i think most players will use what feels good to em... at the same token it seams that some guys are less affected by stuff like pitch and all that... IE Heatly seems like he could play with any kind of skates
