adam14 182 Report post Posted November 20, 2008 think its done somehow, depending on how many points a player is getting, depending on how many minutes hes played, therefore figuring out how effective he is..
interpathway 9 Report post Posted November 20, 2008 Right, which is easy when you're only computing QB's rankings and efficiency...I was just confused because Sem is currently #1, Malks #2, but Tim Thomas is up there at #3. I like that it ranks all together, but do forwards get graded based on PPG verses a goalie getting rated based on SV% and minutes played? Just hoping someone knows how they are computed. start_today 770 Report post Posted November 24, 2008 Does this guy explain how he arrives at those numbers, like what weight each stat is given, or what specific stats he uses? I don't check it that often, but there's no good explanation as to why some guys are listed higher than others.
kosydar 0 Report post Posted November 25, 2008 Kind of along the same lines, look at this week's players of the week. I understand Savard and Sedin, who had eight and seven points respectively. But the third star, Khabibulin, with a .918 save % and a 2.9 GAA. Not saying that his three wins aren't impressive, but should a goalie really get a player of the week when he gave up two, three and four goals in that span? Last year's Vezina winner had the same save % and almost an entire goal less over the course of the entire season. I can imagine there are others who have better stats than that. Ngo_35 1 Report post Posted November 25, 2008 Crosby is rated 87, figure that one out. (Rounded number of course)
interpathway 9 Report post Posted December 3, 2008 Does this guy explain how he arrives at those numbers, like what weight each stat is given, or what specific stats he uses? I don't check it that often, but there's no good explanation as to why some guys are listed higher than others. My question in the first place. Kosydar's comment on how Khabibulin was ranked so high was right on point. Sure three wins is great (in a week no less), but giving up an average of three goals per game in that case? Some of his forwards should be up on that list because when Khabibulin gives up four, a couple of guys were likely scoring a bunch.
