who doesn't tape a composite blade?

Recommended Posts

you think it works?

The friction part I agree with completely but the tape on the blade doesn't last as long IMO. I know Chara tapes his blade normal and then cuts the bottom off. As for the diamond part I don't know. I have never tried that and i think that they would fall off during the game. But maybe you could atest to that?

i was thinkin of it but then what would my wife think if i had the time to cut tape into squares and place it on my stick...lol house work or something i can only imagine, but in theory i think it would do something with the face actually contacting the puck might have to do it

I know that a lot of the inline guys dont fully tape their blades. They just put 2 or 3 strips of tape running horizontally down the front and back of the blade. Yea, the friction part definitely does work. IMO those composite blades are so friggin hard that I have to have tape on my blade for some cushion.

You are going to try the diamond tape job or cutting off the tape on the bottom of the blade???

This is going to sound dumb but has anyone tried just putting wax on the blade?

I've never intentionally waxed the bare blade but i have gotten wax on the blade while i was waxing the tape. If you only waxed the blade without any tape, it would certainly be sticky, i don't know how long the wax would last though.

Any time I don't tape a comp blade, the puck slides off really easily because it gets wet. I have been waxing my tape lightly because I'm using up the last of my Andover tape (tears really easily). I did put a little on the bare blade which also seems to help make it not so slippery. My favorite is still taping the full blade heel to toe and occasionally a bit of wax.

A friend got ahold of a Russian players (name escapes me) stick and he also taped the stick and used an exacto-knife or razor to remove the tape from the bottom. Where it looked pretty cool I don't think it would do a whole lot when we don't have the luxury of having the ice re-surfaced every 20 minutes.

I think it'd help you more, not having the ice flooded. With all the snow built up, the reduced friction of the blade on the ice is pretty handy.
