Do you know anything about the yellow?

Yellow for making everything brighter. I had sunglasses for baseball that had removeable lenses and the yellow was for dark/foggy/cloudy days when it can be hard to pick up the ball. They worked really well too.

Take a look at Speedo's or TYR's swim goggle descriptions and I bet they will highlight some of the advantages of colors vs. smokes vs. mirrors. I can tell you that yellow tint will probably only look halfway decent matched with a SJSs uniform. That's personal taste though.

so hard to find a clear straight cut, went to like 10 stores before I found. but there was plenty of tinted ones. I dunno I think clear is the best.

There is no best. This is another one of those personal preference things.

If your rink is really bright and your noticing something isn't right with your eyes during or after the game, you may need a tinted visor. If its really dark in your rink and your having trouble picking up the puck, get a yellow tint. If your noticing nothing and want to protect your eyes, get clear.

My right eye has dilation issues, skating in the well-lit rinks isn't too bad, but I can see if some of the lights were lower or the arena reflected more light how I would need a tint. I have to wear strong sunglasses on a sunny day to avoid headaches from glare and bright light.

Yellow will create more contrast, not really "brighten" what you see. It filters the colors differently so your eye doesn't need to distinguish as many colors, and anything in the yellow spectrum tends to jump out. Great for summer softball when we were using a fluorescent yellow ball, still good for white on green/blue. I can't see how much it would help the black on white for hockey though, the color contrast is already so polar, and then things like the yellow dasher would pop out really well and be distracting....

Mirror coating helps reflect more glaring light away and can help even out the incoming light, making it less neccessary for a darker tint yet still filtering the hazy effect you get from looking into a bright light.

To each their own, the colors do serve their purposes.

Yesterday I went looking for a visor but everything I saw was clear. I never wore a visor before so I never really considered the different needs for different people. I would never have guessed that there was such an assortment of styles, tints and prices. It's interesting to see that hockey is getting the wide variety of tints just like ski goggles or sunglasses but it makes perfect sense.
