1500 to U+

Recommended Posts

Tried to search as best I could but I never really found anything regarding this change.

I'm about to pull the trigger on a pari of U+'s and was just wondering if they fit remotely close to Easton 1500's ? I've read that the 1500's are a little deeper/wider fitting skate, and the U+ seems to be quite the bigger fitting skate as well. I've had the 1500's for a little more than a year now, and really need some new skates.

I'm going to head into the LHS and try a pair on as well, but I know that the CCM's supposedly fit much different when baked, so I don't know if I can use the un-baked skate as a good guideline on fitment.

Thanks in advance guys.

Yes the Easton family fits much wider. I know the U+ is very reactive to heat in terms of molding to your individual foot's nooks and crannies but not sure if it would loosen up the width at all. Let us know when you head to your LHS for the try-on.

So you're planning on wasting your LHS guy's time, nice.

He didn't say he wasn't planning on not purchasing from the LHS...

edit: Whoa, just saw the 'Pull the trigger part'; assuming it's an online purchase. That'd be pretty crummy my friend for your LHS.

Haha, waste his 30 seconds, pretty much. I'm going to straight up tell him I'm just trying on the skates right now to see if I like the fit. I'm asking the highschool kid to pull a box out of the stockroom, and hand it to me, thats it. This shop is never busy (horrid pricing) so I don't think he is going to care in the least, and its the store I bought the 1500's from and get my repairs done so they have seen plenty of my money.

If the store had any type of competitive pricing at all I'd think differently, plus these are a gift to me, so I wouldn't be buying them on the spot anyways, just trying them on till the weekend.

But to attempt to stay on-topic, anyone else, or is the gen. thought on this is they are both "roomier" skates, that are somewhat comparable and with (obvious) test fitting I'll get a somewhat better answer?

the U+ heel is huge, having tried both boots out before during some down time at work, id say the heel is much wider on the U+ and that the boot will widen after your heat fit

same thoughts exactly - U+ has a huge heel & pretty much no heel lock

1500 wasn't really great in that regurd either, but by virtue of having smaller heel & at least some lock it worked for me (unlike U+)

plus 1500 has a bit wider forefoot.
