“I was thinking about it and if Mario would call me and say, ‘I’d like you to play for our team,’ I would think about it a lot,” Jagr said in a telephone interview from Moscow where the Kontinental League will hold its inaugural All-Star Game outdoors at Red Square Saturday. “I would play for the minimum salary. I would play for $350,000 just for him because I owe him my hockey life. I want to pay him back because he has made me what I am…besides my parents.”

Surprising words coming from Jags

Crosby would love it!

I don't see them working that well together. Sid is very demanding and Jagr will float from time to time.

It says he cant get out of the deal for another year and a half. But since the KHL doesn't honor our contracts, he should bail on them!

And piss off the Russian mob?

This would be great for the Pens.. We need a scoring winger and for $350,000! lol :D quite the bargain. Funny, I don't remember Jagr always being this humble.

Might be new after Cherepanov died on the bench next to him.

Jagr's always had that kind of respect for his "elders" in anything I've seen from him, would be pretty awesome to see him back in the NHL. He's obviously got a lot of great hockey left in him. You can argue about how he's thriving in an inferior league and all but either way, he could still hang in the NHL for several years. Would love to see him in a Pens jersey again (and in their blue alternate for the first time). Would love to see him in a Stars jersey even more... haha

may he suffer over there and if he does come back to the NHL plague the Pens and have them miss the playoffs.

He isn't humble all of a sudden. It's always all about Jags. He wants out and to be in the NHL. This isn't about him having a change of heart.

wouldnt a change in heart be coming back to the nhl? ive been waiting to see a star player to say they will play for min wage forever.

That came across kinda classless.

And yet that says nothing about whether the statement might be accurate. Jagr would not be the first person, nor the last, to reprioritize his life after being witness to a tragedy. Cherepanov had his whole life ahead of him, and it was cut short. Maybe Jagr realized that you never know what might happen to you, so don't wait around to do what you really want to do in your life.

This would NEVER happen this season.

He'd have to clear waivers first, per clause 13.23 of the CBA.

Mario wouldnt offer him league minimum, and watch him go somewhere else via waivers.

In the article it says that he would consider it after his contract with Avangard is up at the end of the 09-10 season.
