I believe Easton must stay within North America. Or maybe even just the U.S.

I remember trying to ship Eastons to Canada, and they couldn't do it, so I had to pick them up at the border.

To clarify, this was not with Hockey Monkey, but another website.

Why is that with Easton and NBH, and don't give me the "it's their policy", because I think that's a stupid reason (from the producer, not you guys). I would really like to hear the opinion of a representative of NBH ....

Hi,

I was trying to have hockeygiant ship some Nike Bauer Supreme 70 skates to germany and this was the mail I got.

Note that it even took some persuasion to have the order shipped to my uncle's US adress, while paying with my german credit card (and thereby german address). In the end they did it, but my uncle had to call them up first.

Cheers

Thor from old hockey europe

============

Dear Customer,

Please note that the following shipment restrictions have been placed by manufacturers:

Nothing can ship out for:

Nike-Bauer

Easton

Warrior

Only Licensed Apparel (has a logo on it) can ship for:

RBK-CCM

Can ship anywhere but Australia and the UK:

Mission-Itech

Okay to ship everywhere:

TPS

Gear

Eagle

Eddy

Sherwood

Tour

We are very sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused. Please note that this also includes not shipping to freight forwarding companies. Please remember that these are policies put forth by the companies that we must follow. If you happen to have future questions or concerns please feel free to let me know.

* However, you may place a new order with the companies that are able to ship out internationally or you could provide a US address that these may be delivered to. Please note items are also not able to ship to any freight forwarding companies.

IIRC it's about protecting LHS and distributors. Thats why they won't ship it, manufacturers policy.

IT"S not a manufacturers policy it's their's I emailed warrior and asked why hockey monkey can't ship to Canada and they emailed me back saying we never tell companies or business's where they can and cannot ship things once they purchase products from us, it's there's to do as they please. It's just hockey monkey being difficult

At HG we've been told before explicitly they would ship international, if the manufacturers allowed it.

Well like the guy at warrior told me they don't tell people where they can ship stuff, once it's purchased it's theirs, which makes perfect sense

They don't ship outside the US as the major stores in the US have a much higher buying power and lower overheads than most LHS.

In Australia the market is propped up by shipping restrictions as the distrubutors and stores here simply do not have the buying power the major US stores have and would not exist in their current form if these restrictions did not exist.

This can also mean that there is a significant variation in the prices of equipment from one store to the other.

For example, a major hockey store here in Australia has NBH 4 rolls for $395.00 AUD ($265 USD), where as the major US stores sell them for roughly $100 USD.

We will ship things to Canada however, apparently unlike the monkey as I just read here. *shrug*

I'm sorry to say it, but any lhs that sells at this kind of prices just because he is the only one that has the stuff in the city or country is very similar to a lone shark. That's 150+% more $ than normal, even with taxes, shipping, whatever, it still is way to much. Not to mention that the lhs buys the stuff at a smaller price and imports in bulk. Buy online in this case

So for example lets say a stick is $229 in a canadian online store and it's only 154$ in a us online store, so the us store won't ship it to canada because the stick company wants us to pay way more for the stick?

No, because they want to ensure that their dealers are taken care of, IE stay in business.

Ok so here's a scenario, US shops are cheaper because of lower duties/taxes etc(PAST exchange rates)... So they ship to Canadians looking to save money. Great, now the Canadian distributors have to lower their prices to compete(or they wont move product), this means less profit. In the end, that means cutting budget. Less employees, but still they cannot compete. The bigger companies that buy in bulk swallow up the smaller guys. See where this road is heading?

No, the Canadian dealer had to pay more for the stick, so they should be able to charge more. If you want to blame anyone, blame the government of Canada for the duties that have to be paid on imported hockey equipment. Or you can blame the manufacturers for sending all of the production overseas. Either way, shops are just trying to pay the bills and maybe end up with a few bucks in their pocket at the end of the day.

So the canadien customer suffers because of tax's/duties but also because if the pice stay's up then it means the stores stay in business and the employee's keep their jobs? i'll continue to buy from us online stores thank you, you can find ones that'll do it just keep lookin around that's what i did. Why woudl i spend upwards of $50 more so someone else can keep their job, when i gotta get a 2nd job just to pay for all my gear

Because when your stick breaks or you need your skates sharpened there won't be a shop around you to help you out.

Again, blame your government for this issue. ...but then again you're probably the same person that blames HM if they charge you duties at the border.

ouch... that one hurt, but he has a point, we live in a free market, no comunism here. a solid free market let's only the best survive and I read here a lot of storys about unexperienced or untrained employees of lhss, so why should they survive? and don't worry, there will always be lhs, only of better service ;)

didn't mean to ofend anyone
