My votes for the best Pizzas are:

Deep Dish/Chicago Style: Lou Malnati's in Chicago, IL - http://www.loumalnatis.com

Thin Crust/New York Style: Pizza on the Street in Ybor City (Tampa, FL)

Sentimental Favorite: Pizza King in South Bend, IN (Ahh, if those walls could talk)

Best Franchise/Chain: Papa John's

I read somewhere the reason why pizza is so good in NY is because of the water. This place in Miami I used to go to used to import NY tap water.

Eww....

Is that actually a good thing?

I've been to Italy many times and the pizza there still isn't as good as pizza in NY.

Its true...I think NYC's water is top 5 in the country. Much of NY states water is great. But the pizza up North is the pits.

Dang, I never thought that could be possible (NYC in the top 5). Then again i might be thinking of Jersey  , having lived there and all.

I'm a Chicago deep dish pizza lover. When I get home to the windy city is Dues Pizza (Wabash at Ontario).

There is a national chain that is very similar UNOS. There is one down by Disney World JR if you want to check it out. Actually there are 4 in Orlando :D Its pizza thats literally an inch thick with a sour dough crust. The best!!!!!

NY water is high in fluoride.

Which isn't good! Flouride is up there with lead and arsenic in terms of toxicity. :(

Can't say that I've missed NY/EC pizza since I got back to Chicago. From thin to stuffed, there is so much good pizza to be had here. Giordano's, Gino's East, Lou Malnati's, Uno's & Due's, etc.. There is no excuse to eat Domino's! That said, I must admit that I do enjoy a hand tossed, Meat Lover's pizza every so often.

Okay, I went looking for a Little Caesars today - apparently there is one 10 min from my house. I'm very disappointed - definitely not the Little Caesars of old. I guess the Tigers aren't the only thing that Ilitch has been neglecting over the past few years.

Where in Italy? Naples isn't the greatest, but I've had pizza in Florence that is to die for.
