How does that country song go? Not as good as he once was but as good once as he ever was?

You're the last person I thought I'd see quoting Toby Keith...but that's pretty good.

I'm more versatile than it would appear at times. I claim no level of expertise in that particular field, just happened to come to mind.

That's exactly how I wanted the game to play out, but I wish the Leafs didn't get a point out of it. Anyone else surprised to see Sundin ruffing it up with Blake?

Nice little run the Nucks have been on of late.

If they can secure a win tonight they secure a playoff spot mathematically.

Calgary is just ahead at the moment, 2-1 I think.

Wow. The Nucks go down two. Sheldon Brookbank makes a bad decision going with Rypien which fires up the Nucks who roar back for four goal, not even half way though the game.

Burrows with 27 now...Who knew!?

I think the most spectacular moment for Burrows has to be Team Canada consideration. Although, perhaps he should have held out on that contract a little lol.

Canucks cannot get a break, just as things start going really well.

The local news is reporting that Taylor Pyatt has left the team to attend to matter relating to his fiancee passing away today in Jamaica while she was on a holiday in a car accident. :(

This franchise and team have been rocked again, remembering back to the Luc Bourdon passing, and now this.

RIP Ms. Future Pyatt. :(

For those of you wondering burrows' stats after him signing are 11 goals and 5 assists in 14 games.

EDIT: That's terrible news! My condolences go out to Taylor, and to his fiancee's family.

So sad to hear about the Pyatts. But I come to the Vancouver thread bearing a fun stat.

“They probably didn’t expect me to score 28. I think people probably wish that I score now. With my streak here, they’re probably getting a few free beers.”

- Vancouver's Alex Burrows who has scored a career high 28 goals this season. Whenever Burrows scores a bar in Vancouver passes out free drinks named after the grinder.

Burrows during the Colorado game when he was being interviewed between periods was hilarious. When asked about the offense he said there wasn't enough pressure, and then when asked about the defense he said "I just told you, there isn't enough offensive pressure" (or something along those lines) Just was one of the first interviews I've seen in which a player has snapped at a reporter, and not just fed a canned Tiger Woods answer.

The two things I observe that make Burrows so valuable is:

1. His Hockey smarts is unparralleled on the team, he rarely makes bad decisions, and from a coaching perspective makes great decisions with the puck as far as soft dumps, passing vs shooting, shooting in the right lanes etc.

2. His tenacity is second to none.

I am glad Gillis tied him up long term!
