There is one of training rules (for children) - if it is pleasant, it will come out... And if something come out - it's a pleasure... Why those guys are so persistent on ice? (Andorra ... hockey team practice) ...

... just relax, guys

dear God, and I thought I skated like crap, and I do, the worse thing is that these guys can play and enjoy hockey, while I am just left with a dream :(

I dont really get the point of this and am a little confused. Are their skates not sharpened?

I just read about this country not even knowing it existed. Intresting place it seems.

Very interesting read if you look up the history of Andorra. They declared war on Germany and didn't rescind that until 1957, lol. Lowest elevation is over 2800' in the valley area. And with an average life expectancy of 83 they can work on those skating skills for some time yet... ;)

Threads like this just confuse me as I said before.

Okay, so they are not good players. I dont get the point of ripping on them to feel good about your ability.

Guess my parents just raised me different. This reminds of people who make fun of the disabled. Yes they are not good, yes you are better. It still doesnt mean that you dont suck compared to those who play pro hockey in NA or EU.

Guess their to busy living life and enjoying other aspects of the human existance to care to much about playing hockey or soccer at a leet level.

From what I read about the country it seems like an amazing place with a great lifestyle and a happy population.

Whatever, the only benefit of this thread was that some of us learned about a cool little country where people live well into their 80's

well not to be mean, but with that sorta mindset and mentality, there ain't gonna be any ovechkin's or the likes of him being produced in that country

I am just saying that beacuse I self-taught skating, I never was able to afford to be in a childhood league, but only God knows whether or not i have a "natural talent" but boy did I see myself progressing fast (skating). I grew up on hockey obsession which was purely out of my own enjoyment and willingness to self-learn. I am a Korean living in Canada, and my parents know jack squat about hockey (my dad thinks Canadian NHL teams have Canadian players only, and American players only in American NHL teams... and argues with me for it). Yet with their financial support and things, I am an ok varsity university player whom I myself, know won't be anywhere near the NHL but I can pretty much partake in any level of pick up shinny full of Junior AA guys (which are friends of mine) without much difficulty.

What I'm saying is, yes to an extent, I do have the urge to make fun of them because unless the whole population of Andorra has some sorta athletically declined trait as a whole, they shouldnt be that bad, and why are they so bone skinny? I see no passion in their games, I see no trying. Listen to the camera holder of that video laughing (i dont know what they are saying but)

With a population of 70,000 or so you probably aren't going to be a sports powerhouse. There certainly are circumstances where this philosophy wouldn't work, such as if your kid as ambitions of playing hockey at elite levels. However, for a great many adult rec leaguers I think it's great. Play for the fun, the health benefits, the social aspects, and so on. Way too many guys make hockey into something stressful because after lacing up their skates for the first time at 30 they're shocked to find out they're never going to skate like Sidney Crosby.

I agree with RecLeague.

As to pkzild

Are you serious? You think its good to make fun of people who just want to play for fun and dont care to be good? Get a grip man. ITS A FRIGGIN GAME! You are supposed to play for fun and enjoyement. How about you just try learning to respect people who may just want to play for fun. Never mind no one has noticed the video date says 2002 so this maybe their first few days on the ice. Ever think about that. Even if its not who cares. They play for fun.

Guys like you are funny. If someones not good its time to bag on them so you can feel good about yourself. You show your lack of cultural knowledge in your post. Maybe their society places little value on competitive sport. Maybe they focus on enjoyement and things such as the arts and sciences. Hell they must be doing something right living to 83. You focused on hockey, they didnt and obviously never skated much in life. I love how you edited your post to pat yourself on the back for being self taught and making a college team and knowing jr players. Just sounds like LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME! Pretty sure you had some coaches some where along the way and played organized hockey or you wouldnt know the jr players. These guys didnt have those coaches or likely any coaching at all.

Maybe they dont care about sports. This may be hard for you to grasp based on your post, but there is a hell of a lot more to life then sports and hockey. I dont know things like science, the arts, humanitarianism.

Get a grip bro its a game and not everyone wants or cares to be Ove or Gretz. If at the end of the day they had fun what does it matter? Why would you want to make fun of someone for just having fun and living life? I just dont get guys like you.

i edited my post because i needed to show emphasis, but you also edited yours...

1st off, let us clarify that that is NOT what "Euro hockey" is all about. The OP obviously is mistaken or just was being general in making that thread... you know as much as anybody else how competitive and fierce Russian(considered euro)/Swede hockey culture is.

2nd, you don't have to categorize me and label me as "guys like you", because since when are you obligated to be a perfect "gentleman with a heart and express your value of life" and are supposed to shun people who enjoy good joke or two on an internet forum? You and a few others, are the ones taking the concept of "being mature and serious", too seriously, and there are many different parts of the world where the going is good and everything, and I AM a mature enough person to realize all that. The OP obviously posted this clip to show us a few things: to let us know unlike the "privileged" north american kids who were drilled and drilled and planted the hockey dream mentality ever since they could stand, playing in competitive leagues to the bones til they can't look left to right to know what fun is EXCEPT hockey, and those guys should step back and watch the vid so they realize they shouldn't push themselves too much and learn to have fun? YES, these Andorra kids are different, they simply what? suck at hockey. I feel there is no need for sugar coating things as I see it. What are you exactly angry at me about? Is it really about the fact that I made a few pokes at their hockey culture? the hockey skills of the kids? think about that... I, merely just as much as an immigrant without a home country, was pointing out the fact that NO I did NOT have that hockey dream put into me, or took any lessons, but brought it upon myself, and whether you believe me or not, yes I am as competitive as my friends in juniors, but i didnt say I was as good as them.

I can say fully loud and clear that Canada sucks balls at soccer and baseball and their leagues are just plain pathetic to the bones compared to the US, Europe and Asia. I can't stand watching sportsnet or TSN on soccer coverage always chanting Team Canada soccer blah blah it honestly just makes me laugh out of entertainment. Is that rude? no, you humourless fool. It's the same concept. In the end, it all comes down to how you want to take my joke. You make me sound like i'm some sorta racist/ignorant/discriminant joker? i think you may have taken me a bit too far

I'd like to close off and let you know that if you are an American, let me assume something NOT out of canada-US hatred (I have none of such): I think you are mostly overreacting at my comment beacuse Americans are really really not used to be being made fun of, and have this weird concept and application of "human rights" and will defend anyone whom they are in favour of to the max. I come in, as a relatively new comer, being expected to make world-conforming comments that everybody likes? You who happens to misunderstand me, as an American (assumption), you bash me regardless of the fact that I have not bashed anybody in the forum in general, because I poked fun at some country which you as an American (assumption), very much finds it heartwarming and loving.

P.S. Life expectancy of canada is about 80.4 which isn't too far from Andorra's 83.5. I live in that sort of quality of lifestyle as a privilege as well, you don't see me braggin about my life expectancy.... so stop defnding Andorra's as if it were your own...

Wow now your bashing Americans? You know all about all Americans and what they believe? Amazing I dont know that about any other society in the world including my own, but you do.

You seem to have life all figured out at the tender age of 18 or 19 (assumption) as you sound like a kid who is 18 and has life all figured out. I remember when I was 18 and knew everything. Then I graduated college, got a real job, got married, experienced lifes tragedys, had kids, and grew up. I think Im starting to grasp what life is about. You call me a fool? I guess I will agree. Someone said "A fool thinks himself to be wise, but a wise man knows himself to be a fool. "

Your reply is so convoluted much of which has nothing to do with the base issue. Which is guys like yourself who take a game way to serious and feel the need to make fun of those who are not good at it. That appears to be the point of the OP and your first post. Its wrong. You can write what ever you want I still believe its wrong and have every right to point out it lacks basic respect of other persons. I dont need to be a member of any society to say somthing is wrong.

Sounds like every game is game 7 for you.

Heres hoping this thread gets locked soon. I regret replying to this initially and giving a dead thread new life. Sorry to the forum should have let this die.
