Oggie Grip

Oggie Grip - Long Term Wear

Recommended Posts

Thanks Neal. What's different from the traditional ergo grip?

It can be made in several different flexes, and modified in-house by Oggie for different profiles and sizes. They're one-offs as opposed to the retail offerings. I believe Joe is using feedback from these to widen his range of retail offerings as well.

Exactly. The one I have is a stiff flex, which is two levels stiffer than the stock grip, if I recall correctly. As well the covering on the grip is denser and less rubbery. It is a little slicker. Oh and white of course.

Quick question to OGGIE....is there a grip without a knob on the end in the plans? Or does one already exist prostock wise?

Zach

I think I recall a plan to produce blank plugs with the Oggie technology; think current wood plugs except made from plastics and have built-in flex.

Joe, I don't know if you're still looking for feedback on these, but I've had my classic grip for about five months and really like it. I have it in a tps armour shaft. I had to add a bit of tape to get snug fit, but I have never had any problems.

My only qualm is with the size of the knob on the end relative to the actual grip. It just seems really big. I don't know how it plays into the structural integrity of the whole grip, but I think making this end knob smaller would give more people more options. If you want it bigger you can add your own tape, but there's not really a way to make it smaller.

You're right, a smaller plug would allow more choices to the user, but you probably could get away with shaving a little rubber off and then taping over. I know that's how Joe tested for the custom grips. If you keep the knob consistently taped, I don't think you'd have too many issues with longevity.

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but this is too trivial for a new one. Im intrested in getting an Oggie grip but not sure how it will affect my flex. I have a One95 senior OPS with an 87 flex. The stick is the full length, so I what I want to know is will cutting my stick down to compensate for the extension change my flex? As I understand it, an Oggie grip will increase flex, but will it negate the increase by cutting it down? I don't intend to cut it the whole 6.whatever inches off as I want to add a little length to my stick at the same time. Any info would be appreciated.

Joe used to have two identical junior shafts that he used at the trade show. One was regular length and measured 50 on the force gauge. The other had an oggie grip and was cut that it was the same length as the other one, including the grip. The oggie stick measured something like 45 flex.

In other words, your 87 with an Oggie and a little more length will probably end up closer to 80 flex when you are done. That's just my estimate, not anything official from Joe. I could be off on that.

My memory is it went the other way, Chadd. The "stick" was rated at 50 and measured on his True Flex at 50, while the "Oggie Stick" would consistently come in around 42.

Yeah, I added instead of subtracting when referencing the test, I got the other part right though. I'll go back and edit that, to lessen the confusion.
