I did notice that they advertise they they can do custom stuff on sticks and gloves among other things. Now the glove whores here have another brand to try.

Their gloves and high end stick ARE awesome and not pricey.

I showed the stick and the gloves to Team Ukraine Coach Alekxander Savitskiy and he loved the stuff.

And he has used everything in his life, all brands, etc. He was sinerely impressed. Big time impressed.

The site, in my opinion, needs to be worked on.

I mean, what's the deal with all of the knights and hockey? ANd really bad Flash websites?

Swords = Hockey Sticks

Body Armor = Pads

It's a pretty direct comparison, but I agree: over used.

Obviously didn't pick up on my reference...

THe descriptions of the sticks are the same as Sher-woods.

Exactly. How could this be unless they were rebranded Sherwood sticks???

The gloves looked kind of cool. Kind of a refined Farrell vibe.

If they are the same as these, then they are quality.

DIfferent cosmetically only.

Well, if Team Ukraine comes out and wins gold next year and ANY event (WJC, Olympics, WC) I will buy a stick and try it. Until then....

You will not. To the best of my knowledge, the products are meant for European markets. There's a chance that quite a few Russians might be going to play with them soon. Alexander Savitsky spent most of his time playing for the Russian Superleague.

No offence to you Canadian guys, but in 1972 the Russians had crap for sticks. And a very scary looking premier too): Remember Phil Esposito fell accidentally and, made an eye contact with Brezhnev and then bowed him? Tthat was real funny. No Soviet player would have the guts to do that. Different times were back then.

*cough* Sherwood *cough*

Seriously...what the heck is this? Some disgruntled Sherwood employees started up their own company?

I mean:

Nah, to the best of my knowledge, it's a whole different story. They were participating in the last ISPO in Munich and had a lot of success there. Got themselves a bunch of distributors in Europe.

Never cared to check. The Russians are getting more serious about manufacturing their own hockey gear

http://efsi.ru/products_01.php?Id=2

Still all major brand licensed to best of my knowledge (Jofa/RBK?).

Like Graf, they don't sponsor any NHL players :D - nobody wants rubles these days I guess...

Anyone in North America is intersted in becoming a distributor? They might throw in some cute Russian girls into the deal

pretty close. Here's their response from my email:

No we're not the new Sherwood co. We're 5 guys from that use to work there and started a new company call Sherbrook SBK Hockey Co. We are specialized in Europe for the moment and working to on North American for the next season. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

Best regards

Based on the fact that the stuff appears to be almost identical to most Sher-Wood gear, the name is a cross between RBK and Sher-Wood, it sounds like a law suit waiting to happen. Considering the difficulties Sher-Wood has had of late, I have my doubts that this will do very well, especially in North America.

It's a little more complex than disgruntled employees. Mainly related to to the change in ownership of Sher-Wood to the best of my knowledge. Nice hard workig folks though at SBK. They get my respect for having the guts to try to break through to the market. It's a tough job taking into consideration the big guys that these days own most of the market. Finacial risks too left alone the currrent state of world's economy.

Starting up a brand is not expensive at all. With the ability to get knockoff import product there is very little startup cost or risk. I know a few people that have considered it and they showed me the numbers.

Chadd, I guess I was mainly referring to new brand exposure/promo costs and the current world's economy status.

And that intro! Was that really a hooded man with no shirt striking a stick through a rock?! No need to discuss durability! Performance on the other hand...
